The RX is redesigned and ready to conquer the market again. This is the best-selling luxury SUV in the US, with numbers at the same level as some non-premium models. Why is the vehicle so popular? Probably because of the combination of reliability and durability, available at a reasonable price for a luxury segment. And, there is a lot of choices available. The SUV is available in two- and three-row variants, with standard and hybrid engines, and many additional upgrades. The latest model added to the squad is the 2023 Lexus RX 500h F-Sport.

So, everything is new on the SUV. Revisited styling makes the vehicle more attractive, outside and inside. Still, it is overshadowed by the arrival of new drivetrains. Instead of a V6, the RX now features a 2.4-liter turbo-four engine. It is also a centerpiece of hybrid and PHEV systems, as well as the 2023 Lexus RX 500h F-Sport Performance model. The latest one is the most interesting since it was not available previously. The F-Sport package included visual upgrades, while the specs sheet was the same as for the standard lineup.

2023 Lexus RX 500h F-Sport Performance Upgrade

Under the bonnet of the SUV is a 2.4-liter engine. Previously, the RX lineup was relying on a 3.5-liter V6 mill. Compared to Toyota’s vehicles, this was the same unit used by a non-premium Highlander. That is also one of the reasons why the price is a bit lower than average for the mid-size luxury SUV class. Anyway, after replacing a six-pot engine on the Highlander, we assumed that Lexus RX is going the same way. And that happened. The base model is now using a turbo-four setup, the hybrid adds electric support, and the PHEV even more options.

But, the 2023 Lexus RX 500h F-Sport is under the spotlight. It is the performance version we missed in this lineup. A hybrid system boosts the standard configuration, which now bursts 367 horsepower. The new configuration is revisited. It is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The Direct4 AWD is also introduced for better traction and grip. The eAxles technology is the future of the Lexus family and the automotive industry. According to the first estimations, the 2023 Lexus RX 500h F-Sport will need only 6 seconds for a 0-60 mph sprint.

Other Modifications

The new model is drawing attention not only with its performance but also with its look. The F-Sport package was always sporty-oriented. We can’t forget the special grille and bumper design on the previous version. Now, the 2023 Lexus RX 500h F-Sport comes with a unique mesh grille and 21-inch alloy wheels. Those are not pumping the appearance, but also the performance of the SUV. Inside, there are a few special treatments, including a perforated leather steering wheel, trimmed interior door panels, F-Sport scuff plate, aluminum pedals, paddle shifters, etc.

2023 Lexus RX 500h F-Sport Pricing

The company unveiled the lineup for the 2023 season, but the price was not mentioned. We don’t have a previous version for the comparison. But, experts believe that the base price will start from around $50k, raising to $60,000-$65,000 for the PHEV. As the top of the class model, the 2023 Lexus RX 500h F-Sport will definitely cost more than $70,000, and maybe even closer to $75k. The full pricing list will be unveiled with the official debut and sales start in the final quarter of this year.

In Case You Don’t Want to Spend so Much…

As said, the 2023 Lexus RX 500h F-Sport is the high-end option. Its styling and performance are eye-catching and breathtaking, but the price is out of the limit for many fans. Still, the base version is still pretty approachable at $50k. Most other mid-size luxury SUVs are at least 10 percent above that. Now, with the redesigned body and upgraded performance, the RX should be even more attractive to younger buyers.

The RX 350 opens the offers. It features a 2.4-liter turbo engine that cracks 275 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. The gas mileage is better, thanks to a smaller block, and especially the GA-K platform. The SUV is nearly 200 pounds lighter than the previous version. The RX is also longer than before, which promises more room inside the cabin. Designers also revisited the color palette. Six exterior paintjobs are now available, while the interior depend on the themes you pick.

The 2023 RX 350h is the base hybrid system, centered around a 2.5-liter turbo-four engine. It sends power through a CVT gearbox to all wheels. Outputs are similar to the ones we find on the Toyota Highlander – 246 hp and 233 lb-ft, but the gas mileage makes this setup very impressive. The large SUV returns 33 mpg combined. Well, the vehicle performs the best in urban area, where the fuel economy delivers a massive upgrade compared to the standard version (24 mpg). On the other hand, it takes 7.5 seconds to accelerate 0-60 mph on the open road.
