Experts believe the next-gen Acadia is likely because of frequent changes in the compact crossover segment. Also, its sibling, Chevy Traverse, was updated earlier, so this is a logical move by General Motors. Fresh styling is going to make this vehicle more appealing. The interior should be revisited and offer more space. Still, the new 2024 GMC Acadia will have to save some room behind seats for cargo.
The fresh look is one of the best things about the crossover SUV, but probably not the biggest thing that happens for the third-gen vehicle. General Motors is electrifying almost everything. The 2024 GMC Acadia EV is very likely, especially after the announcement of the Traverse EV. The company is skipping a hybrid setup. The main powertrain is still a petrol unit, and diesel is not coming back.
2024 GMC Acadia Redesign
The new generation starts with a fresh look. It brings a new styling approach and we can’t wait to see what the GM is preparing. The mid-size SUV is not gaining too much length, since it is one of the biggest models in the market. The new Acadia might be 195 inches long. That will increase the cargo room, which is already pretty generous. A lot of options are coming for the next-gen SUV, while the main trim levels are being carried over. The AT4 and Denali are coming back, while the Acadia GT is also one of the interesting configurations.
A 2.0-liter turbo-four will remain a powertrain of the third-gen Acadia. This engine can deliver 228 hp and 258 lb-ft. Engineers are going to revisit and maybe squeeze more power from a four-banger. A nine-speed automatic transmission is paired with a front-wheel drive. AWD is optional in most of the lineup. A 2.0-liter mill is pretty efficient with 25 mpg of combined gas mileage.
The second option from the current SUV is under the question mark. A 3.6-l V6 is reliable. But, companies are dropping big displacements and deploying smaller blocks to improve efficiency. Nevertheless, it will be hard to replace 310 hp and 270 lb-ft, especially for the AT4 model.
Many mid-size SUVs are already available with some kind of electric drivetrain. That gives an edge to Ford Explorer and Toyota Highlander over Chevy Traverse and GMC Acadia. However, this situation is not changing when the new model shows up. But, the GM can skip this setup and go immediately with the all-electric drivetrain.
General Motors already launched a few all-electric models. Those are the Chevy Bolt, Silverado truck, luxury Cadillac Lyriq, and the Hummer truck/SUV as the representative of the GMC family. The Acadia EV might use a similar platform and batteries. Well, there are a lot of advanced options as well that every fan wants to see. All in all, it is still early to talk about the final product, since the SUV won’t be available before the 2025 season.
2024 GMC Acadia AT4x Off-Road 4×4 SUV
Since we are talking about an electric model, we can mention some of the coolest options for the GMC Hummer. Crab Walk and Extract Mode can boost the off-road drive. However, it is hard to believe those high-end options are going to be available for the Acadia.
Even without it, the 2024 GMC Acadia AT4x is a great option for an off-road drive. The package brings a 4×4 drive as the standard option, as well as the new suspension setup with special shocks and a damping system. Of course, skid plates are protecting the body.
2024 GMC Acadia Denali Luxury Model
If you are not a fan of an off-road drive, then the premium 2024 GMC Acadia Denali might draw the attention. Here, the company installs the best features it can offer. It all starts with genuine leather and extra options for the infotainment system. Captain’s chairs are in the middle row. Those will increase the comfort, but the seating capacity drops to six. Super Cruise should become standard. Also, the company could add another option called Denali Ultimate, like for some other vehicles.
2024 GMC Acadia GT
The SUV is going to compete with the Ford Explorer ST with the 2024 GMC Acadia GT model. Engineers are about to turbocharge a six-pot mill to get 450-475 horsepower. A ten-speed automatic transmission sends power to all wheels. Also, the Acadia GT will look sportier thanks to several body upgrades. Everything is still just a concept, but such an output is more than appealing. There won’t be too many SUVs that can beat this.
Anyway, the price of the 2024 Acadia GT might be excessive and fend away buyers. We assume this SUV won’t cost under $65,000. The base version will also arrive with an increased price. Now, you will have to pay nearly $40,000 for the SUV. Denali and AT4 are around $50k.
