13 Best SUV Concepts We Could See in Production Soon

The SUV segment is currently way ahead of the competition. Carmakers are jumping into new projects to offer more versatile vehicles and complete packages to their customers. Of course, there are future plans. Evolution leads us to the best SUV concepts we can currently find.

Our list contains models that could appear soon. The focus is on the electric segment. However, there are some exotic carmakers that delivered some of the best SUV concepts that could appear pretty soon. Finally, a few comebacks are also interesting. But, the new vehicles won’t be the same as 20 or 30 years ago. So, let’s see what do we got here.

2022 Ferrari Purosangue

One of the most interesting models on the list, mainly because it comes from Ferrari. For a long time, we were expecting a move by the Italian powerhouse. Now, we have the name of their concept – Purosangue. Further rumors are talking about the release date, which could happen in 2022. However, the production might come a bit later, in a limited number of units, and with a hefty price. The 2022 Ferrari Purosangue SUV will cost around $350,000 and it has a couple of options for the engine room. We assume the company will go after a V8 or a V12, which will reach 650 hp.

Lincoln / Rivian EV SUV

One of the best SUV concepts we saw recently is the Rivian R1S. The new US company is a threat to Tesla. The electric startup draws the attention of many companies, which already invested heavily in further development. We have Amazon as the biggest shareholder. Recently, Ford joined the party as well. The Blue Oval company could use an electric drivetrain to install it under a premium Lincoln SUV. Aviator has the PHEV system delivering a lot of power and the next step in the evolution is EV. 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer

The FCA announced the comeback of the old nameplate. Wagoneer was famous for its styling, dominated with the unique graphics outside the vehicle. Now, this could be the only thing that will remind us of the old vehicle. The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer was about to arrive in 2021, but the production is delayed for the following season because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The SUV will take the position above the Grand Cherokee as the full-size model. The US carmaker is finally entering the new market and the old nameplate should help FCA position better right from the start. A single render was enough to spark the rumors about the 2022 Lotus SUV. Most things about this concept are speculative. But, not everything. The British carmaker is not denying the idea exists. Also, there are spy photos confirming the development is ongoing and test mules are proving Lotus SUV might appear in 2022. This and Ferrari are definitely the best SUV concepts in the exotic segment.

The styling is very attractive. Lotus SUV will use a coupe design. A sloping roof will reduce the cargo space. Still, it is going to be way more than any other vehicle by this carmaker. This model will have performance editions, with diesel and hybrid options for some markets.

2022 Infiniti QX Inspiration and Nissan Ariya

After the Monograph concept debut on the Infiniti QX80, we will see more new vehicles based on new platforms. Nissan is going strong into the new season. In 2021 we will see a lot of updates. However, the Japanese company is saving the best for 2022, both for standard and premium lineup.

The latest vehicle we saw presented was Ariya. The concept will make small Nissan crossovers capable of taking the electric motors as the main source of power. In the luxury class, that is Infiniti QX Inspiration, which should underpin QX50 and QX60. These are the best SUV concepts by Nissan. The carmaker responds to threats by Ford and Toyota.

2023 Aston Martin DBX Coupe (Seven-Seater)

The 2023 Aston Martin DBX Coupe is one of the latest best SUV concepts we could hear of. However, there are no too many details on this vehicle. But, we all know what this company is making. Another Bond’s car is very likely. It won’t debut in ‘No time to die’, but the next episode might bring the premiere of the DBX Coupe. Although it takes a more aggressive look, the SUV will have space for three rows and seven seats. However, this concept was not on the initial list of seven new vehicles by Aston Martin for the next few years.

Lamborghini Urus Superleggera (Release Date TBA)

Superleggera is one of the meanest packages any fan of supercars can think of. So, bringing it to the SUV market would be a great hit for Lamborghini. Well, the Italian carmaker made the first move and turned from exotic and racing cars to the new segment. Now, it is time for the Lamborghini Urus Superleggera. Everything is just a rumor at this point, but it makes the idea of reaching our best SUV concepts list. The model can reach more than 700 ponies, making it the second-highest output in the market, after Tesla Model X.

2023 Bugatti SUV Concept

We will stay in the exotic class. Another Italian manufacturer is interested in building best SUV concepts for the future. In the matter of fact, Bugatti could introduce its model already in 2022 or 2023. This is a new step for the carmakers, since we’ve never seen it make 4×4 vehicle. On the other hand, it will cost potential buyers. Bugatti will launch the SUV that will be closest to the $500,000 tag than any other model.

2023 McLaren SUV

Electric SUV is now in the game for General Motors. The company already uses the motto “Out electric future is now”. Cadillac Lyriq is the only official concept we have. But, it sparked a lot of other rumors. The most interesting one is the comeback of the Hummer SUV as the EV. As the platform for the entire GM lineup, the Lyriq is the among the best SUV concepts we expect to see. It could happen in 2022 when the General Motors plans to launch first such vehicles. GM’s archrival is already out with the Mach E electric model. But, the biggest premiere in the newest history is Bronco. Ford will use the popularity of the SUV to bring another, Bronco Sport or Baby Bronco version. We saw the shell recently, and it seems like a Wrangler 2-door rival.
