This season we are looking at the brand-new coupe SUV by BMW. The German carmaker launched the third generation of the vehicle in style, but the Covid-19 pandemic slowed down sales and future upgrades. So, we expect a lot from the 2021 BMW X6, which is about to enhance the lineup with new features and options. One of them will be the most powerful X6M model. The SUV is one of the most expensive luxury vehicles in the segment, with the price reaching $130,000 with all available options.

So, the X6 is still new, but the first impressions are there. Of course, the fresh styling and aggressive appearance are a couple of big reasons why buyers are going to look after this model. Of course, coupe styling is luring attention, but it also harms the space for passengers and cargo. The 2021 BMW X6 will offer plenty of power, no matter which configuration you pick. Still, the SUV keeps a good fuel economy rating. We will see if the next X6 is getting an autonomous drive system. BMW is already using some of the most advanced technologies for infotainment and safety. Plus, the electric SUV is also on the way, and the company also announced Level 4 self-driving setup in foreseeable future.

Why Buy 2021 BMW X6? [Pros and Cons]

The 2021 BMW X6 will be unchanged cosmetically. The fresh design is not bringing a radical look. Well, the huge coupe SUV is already eye-catching and it is one of the reasons why buyers are so crazy about it. But, the attractive styling and improved aerodynamics are the only good things about this concept. The lack of the headroom for passengers in the second row; no third-row option; less cargo space than on the X5; and limited visibility are downsides of such layout.

However, this is probably where complaints about the X6 will end. Two rows of seats are comfortable enough for all occupants. The quality of materials inside the cockpit is marvelous, and technologies are presenting the latest generation of safety and infotainment features. Even the base models are nicely loaded and there is always room for improvement for advanced systems and premium options. Finally, the engine lineup will answer all needs of potential buyers. A V6 is standard, while V8 will step up with impressive outputs.

A 3.0-liter displacement is ready to produce 335 hp and 330 lb-ft of torque. Compared to other mid-size luxury SUVs, the 2021 BMW X6 delivers more power than Lexus RX or Acura MDX. The base configuration includes the rear-wheel drive. The xDrive is all-wheel drive system and it is optional for the V6 engine. Still, the smart system will send power to rear wheels, unless both axles need more traction. In both cases, the SUV is going to need slightly more than 5 seconds to accelerate 0-60 mph. Towing capacity is 7,200 pounds.

Everything is becoming better with a V8 engine. The configuration is called M50i and uses xDrive only. A 4.4-liter twin-turbo unit is capable to create 523 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. Engineers are also adding several other systems that will boost overall driving impression, including M Sport differential and Valvetronic injection system. Of course, extra power will make the 2021 BMW X6 M50i faster, sprinting to 60 mph in just 4 seconds. 8-speed automatic transmission is a power router for both engines and BMW offers several driving modes that will enhance the performance depending on the surface.

2021 BMW X6 M Specs and Price

523 horsepower is not the best the SUV can do. The new 2021 BMW X6 M is more powerful than ever, with a power output of 617 ponies. Well, you will need the Competition package to get so much power. The standard setup tunes a 4.4-liter V8 engine to create 600 hp and 553 lb-ft of twist. The M Steptronic is sending power to all wheels and the X6M needs 3.6 seconds for 0-60 mph. Max speed jumps to 177 mph, while the price reaches $120,000 with the Competition package.

The M model is not all about the performance upgrade, but also the special styling features. The rear end is quite different, with different roof and spoilers. Of course, unique color palette is there, including Ametrin Metallic purple. M-badged grille, special wheel arches, and quad-tip exhaust outlets are making the M package more aggressive. A set of 21-inch wheels is standard, while exclusive 22-inchers are enhancing the look of the Competition package.
