2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class Review

The largest SUV in the Mercedes family still rides on a unibody platform. The three-point badge offers a body-on-frame SUV, but you need to splash more than $130,000 for the G-Wagon. Also, the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class is not going to be the only full-size luxury SUV coming from Germany anymore. BMW launched the X7, and it uses the ladder frame. That might make a difference between those two competitors.  Well, the X7 is not the only rival. However, most Japanese and US carmakers opted for the truck-based architecture, which is the main advantage over the Mercedes GLS.

The SUV still has a lot to offer to its fans. The cabin is very spacious and packed with quality materials and advanced features. A huge screen is the highlight of the interior. The MBUX system is one of the best multimedia in the market. The 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class will also be ready for off-road adventures. On the other hand, the German luxury costs a lot. Plus, a V8 engine is very thirsty. But, if you can afford it, the GLS delivers a unique combination of driving skills, performance, and state of art equipment.

2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class Specifications

Like BMW, Mercedes also pulls a trick with the entry-level model. The base SUV is available with a six-cylinder engine. Nevertheless, a 3.0-liter displacement is very potent. Turbocharged and enhanced by the EQ Boost technology, the total output of the system is 365 hp and 370 lb-ft of torque. A nine-speed automatic transmission is sending power to the 4Matic AWD system. It downpowers the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class, but the I6 saves fuel, returning 18/24 mpg.

Of course, you will want such a big SUV with a V8 powerplant. Surprisingly, Mercedes dropped the mid-range GLS 580 from the lineup for the current season. We still don’t know plans and which model will take the place. There should be a mid-range offer since the next package is way off the limits for most buyers.

Maybach GLS SUV Review

Usually, the top trim level wears the AMG badge. But, for the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class, the company decided to do something special and unique. They dropped the AMG and replaced it with the Maybach GLS 600. That is why we believe something should be out instead of the mid-range GLS 580.

Under the hood of the super-luxury SUV is a 4.0-liter V8 engine, capable of producing 550 hp. The system is supported with the EQ Boost mild-hybrid technology. A bi-turbo V8 also delivers 538 hp and a 0-60 mph acceleration time is 4.8 seconds. It is not bad having in mind the size and weight of the SUV.

Besides the engine, everything else is also stunning. The 2023 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 is packed with the luxurious stuff and high-end technology. Most of the features you find here is not available elsewhere. Unique interior, genuine materials, state-of-art multimedia… everything is there. Well, the cost of this SUV is $160,000. It is one of the most expensive models in the market at the moment. But, a six-digit price is trending in the SUVs world.

2023 Mercedes EQS Electric SUV

The new member of the lineup is using an electric battery instead of the internal combustion engine. Well, we can’t say that the EQS SUV is really a member of the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class. It is the largest EV in the family, and the company is already producing the sedan version with the same nameplate.

The range is not unveiled yet. But, we know that battery will need 11.25 hours to recharge by using a home outlet. Fast chargers can do 90 percent restoration in 31 minutes. Outputs of the batteries are 355 hp and 536 hp, depending on the version you want to buy. The electric SUV also features drive modes, an advanced suspension setup, and a next-gen MBUX infotainment system.

2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class Price

The model for 2023 will be out soon. The electric drivetrain won’t come out at the same time, but later during the season. The GLS 450 keeps the base price just under $80,000. The Maybach GLS 600 makes it two times higher. That is why the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class needs a mid-range offer. Previously, that was the GLS 580, which costed just under $100,000. The new version will definitely break that bond.
