FCA is always looking forward and search ways to improve its presence in the market. The 2023 Jeep Renegade will be there, but its successor is not so certain. The subcompact crossover class is not generating too much profit. Those vehicles are perfect for newbies. Still, the company will try to shake things up by bringing the new name to dealerships. Mini Jeep or Baby Wrangler are some of the names we’ve heard. So, in 2024, the subcompact crossover launches a new era – either as the Renegade or under some other name.
All in all, the 2023 YM is coming unchanged. That means the Renegade is going to use a 1.3-liter turbo I3 engine. The styling is still attractive, but it’s getting old. The last update happened in 2019. The interior might get some new things. The seating layout stays the same, but the infotainment system will definitely be better.
2023 Jeep Renegade Specs
FCA dropped all engines for the 2023 Jeep Renegade, but a 1.3-l mill. The turbocharged inline-3 unit is good for 177 hp and 210 lb-ft of torque. It is above the class average. Most other subcompact crossovers are under 150 hp. Well, the company wants to shake things up a bit. The gas mileage is not perfect, with the vehicle returning only 24/32 mpg. For example, Hyundai Kona can do 34 on the highway with AWD. This system is optional for the 2023 Jeep Renegade. It will cost you extra money, and plus the fuel economy drops to 23/29 mpg. A nine-speed automatic transmission works smoothly, helping the turbo engine reduce the lags. The manual gearbox is not available anymore. Experts don’t recommend towing with the small crossover.
New Generation and Replacement
Those are still just rumors, but the new Mini Jeep might happen. Definitely, the Renegade is ready for an update, but it is not happening in 2023. On the other hand, this funky crossover is one of the favorites in many European countries, so the company might add the new unit only for the US market. There are too many stories, but all of them need official confirmation. For now, FCA is not out with the statement. One thing is sure – the subcompact crossover needs to be updated soon.
Packages
Like we got used to from FCA, their every vehicle is available in several trim levels. Although other companies are not offering so much attention to the subcompact class, the 2023 Jeep Renegade will have at least five packages ready for buyers. Of course, you can also add single options.
The base version is the 2023 Jeep Renegade Sport. It comes with 16-inch wheels, push-button start, dual-zone climate, and an 8.4-inch touchscreen display. Navigation is there right from the start.
The Latitude model adds alloy wheels, auto headlights, foglights, upscale interior materials, USB ports for rear seats and tinted windows. The Altitude trim is based on the Latitude and adds larger 18-inch black wheels, dark exterior details, and premium interior cloth upholstery. The Limited Edition continues the building with large wheels, leather seats, and Convenience Package as the standard option. Plus, there are additional choices available.
2023 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk
The 2023 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk will be the most popular version of the crossover, but not the best seller because of the price. Still, if you need a small vehicle for off-road adventures, this might be one of the main choices. Again, the company will take the Latitude package and add special Trailhawk equipment. Those are raised suspension, all-terrain tires wrapping 17-inch wheels, tow hooks at both ends, and skid plates for underbody protection. We can also mention unique details on the body and inside the cockpit. Four-wheel drive is standard and the Renegade Trailhawk features hill descent control.
2023 Jeep Renegade Prices
A more powerful engine makes the 2023 Jeep Renegade pricey than other subcompact crossovers. The MSRP starts at $26,000. Latitude is already close to $30,000. At this price you can consider some mid-range version of a larger crossover. The Limited edition is at the same level as some mid-size SUVs with V6 engines. The Trailhawk might be a good investment for off-road duties. However, it is also a bit expensive, costing $32,000.
