We can think about the new generation of the Compass crossover SUV. One big reason to do so is because of the questionable future of the Jeep Cherokee. Well, the vehicle will still be available at dealerships, but under a different nameplate, because of the dispute with native Americans. But, let’s focus on the 2023 Jeep Compass and the changes this vehicle might bring.
The current generation was launched in 2018. In the compact segment, most companies are making new series after five or six years. So, the 2023 Jeep Compass is definitely eligible to start the third-gen run of the model. On the other hand, FCA has a lot of other plans, so this move might not be a priority. For example, the electrification of Wrangler and a few other SUVs are in the focus now.
Even unchanged, the 2023 Compass will draw a lot of attention. A drop in sales is mostly caused by the COVID-19 outbreak. However, a refreshment would be welcome and experts are confident that changes are going to increase sales of the crossover.
2023 Jeep Compass Hybrid
This should be the priority for engineers in the FCA. A compact crossover with a hybrid configuration is a must nowadays. If we just take a look at other models, especially the best-sellers, we’ll find their best versions using the new technology. The most important upgrade – Toyota Rav4 and Ford Escape are going to return 40+ mpg, while there are a few more others with 35+ mpg. Plus, in most cases, crossovers are getting a boost in power outputs as well. All in all, the 2023 Jeep Compass Hybrid should be out if FCA wants to stay competitive.
The only powertrain for the current version is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 177 horsepower. Well, that is an average for the compact crossover class. It also adds 172 lb-ft, while returning 23/31 mpg. All-wheel drive harms the mileage – 22/30 mpg is the rating. A nine-speed automatic transmission is sending power to front wheels by default. You will need an all-wheel drive for the best towing capacity results, which are not impressive. Still, if you need more than 2,000 pounds, we recommend buying a larger vehicle.
Models and Options
Like most Jeeps, the Compass is coming with a wide offer of trim levels. There are five configurations with combined features into a package. The base one is the 2023 Jeep Compass Sport. This one includes 16-inch wheels, heated outside mirrors, and cloth upholstery. The new infotainment system is available for all FCA vehicles. Still, the Compass is going to keep an 8.4-inch screen and an entry-level 6-speaker sound system. Wireless smartphone connections with Apple and Android devices are standard.
The Latitude upgrades the base offer with larger wheels, foglights, simulated leather, and keyless entry and start. Latitude Lux is a new trim level that adds 18-inch wheels, more multimedia functions, a power driver’s bucket with heating, and leather upholstery. The Limited adds premium amnesties, such as black roofs, wipers de-icer, and ambient lighting.
Optionally, buyers can opt for some of the packages. For example, the Convenience bundle will bring a power outlet and a hands-free tailgate. Driver assistance groups are split into two groups. Parking sensors, wireless charging pad, adaptive cruise control, and navigation, are just some of the features you might get. The third level of this upgrade is available only for Limited trim. Elite Package comes with top of the line accessories – digital dashboard, 19-inch wheels, heated rear seats, and ventilated front buckets. Panoramic sunroof and premium Alpine sound are available through the Sun and Sound Group.
2023 Jeep Compass Trailhawk
The Trailhawk is a special package for the compact crossover. If you plan to go off the road, this is going to be the right choice. Those upgrades start from the Latitude Lux model and add a unique set of features. We already mentioned the black roof. In this case, 17-inch wheels are wrapped with all-terrain tires. Automatic wipers are standard. The Trailhawk model increases the body height thanks to the raised suspension. Two hooks are must-haves, and skid plates will protect the underbody while riding in tough terrains. All-wheel drive is standard, but it is tuned totally different than for the rest of the lineup.
2023 Jeep Compass Pricing
Even if the big redesign happens, the 2023 Jeep Compass has not too much room for the price bump. The compact crossover is will cost around $27,000 in the base form. The Trailhawk version might be worthy of investment. Its price is $35,000 and with some of the optional upgrades, it can reach $40,000.
