A two-row SUV is a dying class. Buyers will opt more likely for a compact crossover with a better gas mileage, or the three-row SUV with extra seats/room for cargo. But, vehicles in this segment are still in production. The 2024 Nissan Murano will be out, but we don’t expect huge changes anymore. The current generation debuted in 2014 and had one big update in 2019. Meanwhile, the company dropped a hybrid engine. Fans also predicted its comeback, but it never happened.
The 2024 Nissan Murano redesign is still something we are hoping for, especially after the update of the Pathfinder and Infiniti QX60 SUV. The company also needs to revisit the Armada, Patrol and Infiniti QX80. The Monograph concept can help, but it is not meant to offer too many things for the non-premium class.
2024 Nissan Murano Engine
It is one of the biggest downsides of the crossover SUV is its powertrain. A 3.5-liter V6 is reliable unit, although the engineers are not maximizing outputs. For the previous version, the drivetrain was producing 260 hp and 240 lb-ft. for the 2024 Nissan Murano, the outputs could be enhanced to draw more attention. Front-wheel drive is standard, as well as the CVT automatic gearbox. An all-wheel drive is optional. The gas mileage is not impressive. Murano returns 23 mpg combined. Also, the towing capacity is just 1,500 pounds. For this class, that is way beyond the competition.
An enhancement can help, but the Murano needs another option in the lineup. From this point of a view, a turbocharged four-cylinder unit would be a perfect fit. It won’t be the first time that Nissan is downsizing the engine for its vehicles. A V8 becomes a history for the Armada and Infiniti QX80.
2024 Nissan Murano Hybrid
One of the simplest solutions is to add a hybrid engine for the two-row mid-size SUV. Well, Murano already featured it, but seven years ago, when the company was still entering this market. Now, Nissan is catching up with the most competition. Their configurations are still far away from impressive. For example, you can find the Toyota Rav4 and Ford Escape as rare crossovers with more than 40 mpg. It won’t be easy for Nissan’s engineers, but if the bosses want their vehicles to be competitive, they will have to invest heavily into electrification and hybridization. The Murano is definitely the first model on the list to get such a setup, but it would be very helpful for its future.
Redesign and New Options
The crossover SUV was supposed to introduce redesigned look a long time ago. It is not late yet, but the question is if the company is willing to invest into this class. From what our sources know, the 2024 Nissan Murano will pass on the redesign. After that, the company will reconsider its position and future. Still, since the entire lineup is being redesigned, we still believe that Murano can be refreshed.
The interior also needs an update. But, the 2024 Nissan Murano stays a two-row five-seater, which limits its versatility. Still, with the updated infotainment system and dashboard, the ride should be smoother. Drivers will get more helpful options. Of course, new colors and trim levels are coming as well, if the company launches the new generations. Even if it is a carryover, a few fresh paintjobs will be added. So far, you can select five shades for the exterior, and higher trim levels add even more colors, such as Sunset Drift Chromaflair, or Scarlet Ember Tincoat. The interior can be in leather or cloth, depending on how premium Murano you want to be.
2024 Nissan Murano Release Date and Price
The arrival of the new 2024 Nissan Murano depends on the level of changes the company is preparing. Again, it is a total mystery and Nissan keeps everything under the radar. The redesign will definitely raise awareness and make competition revisit their vehicles as well. So, the Japanese carmaker will keep the info until the last minute and the launch date, which is planned for the second half of 2023. Well, if Murano brings a big update, the company will announce it earlier.
The price of the Murano, all-new or old, won’t stay at $33,000. Prices of vehicles and production costs went up, so we can expect the same from the MSRP. SV, SL and Platinum trims are coming back for sure, while other special editions will be out for a year or a two-season run.
add the vc turbo which in the rogue is great.nissan already has a 3,4 and 5 cylinder available.but they cannot even make the ariya available.so no murano for another 2 years.
If the 2024 Murano has seating for 4 six foot adults and a boot to hold 4 golf bags with clubs and gets 30 plus mpg, it is at the top of my list. A PHEV version, like the Mazda CX- 70, would really help sales. Hopefully, Nissan will be competitive enough to bring forth a much improved version of the Murano.
I would love for them to keep the V-6, rated one of the 10 best engines in the world. No turbo to fail or provide problems. No electric motor to go bad. I want a car with new style, a powerful engine and low maintenance. Don’t let the government force me to buy an electric vhicle.

I recently purchased a 2024 Murano, Platinum version. It is beautiful. This is my 3rd Murano. (I have also had a Rogue, Pathfinder and xTerra.) Obviously, I love the Murano. I think the styling is great (something the Reviewers criticize.) The Murano is different looking from all others, (Rogues, Highlanders and Chevy SUVs all look the same) and I think that is great. Reviews also say they don’t offer enough extras, but… with heated steering wheel and seats front and back, panorama sky roof, auto lane indicators and cars approaching side indicators, auto detection of car ahead with slow down, auto back hatch, lighted side rails for exiting, back up cameras and over cameras for easy parking, navigation …. what else do you need? (I know how to parallel park and drive, so I don’t want an auto pilot.) The mileage is very good, the dependability is excellent. Plenty of power, and with AWD, it handles the ice and snow no problem. I drove my last Murano over 100,000 miles without 1 problem; I had 2 different warranties that were never used. I was going to wait on this one, but I am tired of hearing “a new model is coming”, and anyway, I like the current model. With where I live, I can’t use electric…. hybrid is ok, but I prefer gas.
I think people who rate Muranos should speak to Murano owners. I often ask other Murano drivers “Do you like your car?” and EVERY one has replied, “I love this car. Comfy, dependable, plenty of go, nice styling…. I will get another.” Can’t ask for more than that.
