2024 Hyundai Palisade Review: No Major Changes, Hybrid Is Unlikely

66 0

After the 2023 YM refresh, the following model is expected without serious changes. The 2024 Hyundai Palisade comes with new fascia and interior options. Under the hood is the same V6 engine as the main source of power. Hyundai might add a turbo-four, but it won’t suit well to the big three-row SUV. A hybrid is an interesting rumor, but for now, there are no official sources to confirm speculations.

Our favorite model will still be the 2024 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy. The XRT is not bad if you are going on an off-road adventure. But, there are half of a dozen SUVs that can take you to wilder places. Fans are trying to figure out if the Palisade N is an option. For now, Tucson should be out first with the performance package. For the mid-size three-row model, such an upgrade is not in the plans yet.

The price of the SUV stays put. You can still buy it for $37,000. Calligraphy enters the premium world with a price tag exceeding $50k. Space and comfort are definitely the main things why you should consider the Palisade as a good buy. On the other hand, there are a few cons, such as the lack of a hybrid engine, sturdy handling, and high fuel consumption.

2024 Hyundai Palisade Specs

Under the bonnet of the 2024 Hyundai Palisade is a 3.8-liter V6 engine. The powertrain delivers a good acceleration, although the SUV is pretty heavy. The plant sends 291 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque through an eight-speed transmission to front wheels. All-wheel drive is optional, while there is no second choice when it comes to the powertrain. Also, the Palisade is using a unibody platform, that is better on the safety side, but lacks durability and off-road capability compared to SUVs with body-on-frame architecture.

The gas mileage is not too bad. The Palisade is rated 19/26 mpg with a 2WD, or 18/24 when you pick AWD. The 2024 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid could fix that, but there are no details about this system yet. The company introduced a hybrid configuration for the Tucson and it already draws a lot of attention. The Palisade hybrid would help the company in catching up with the class leaders in the mid-size SUV segment.

Grades and Accessories

The revisit of the 2023 YM didn’t bring any new trim level. Existing features are reshuffled and a few more are added across the lineup. So, everything starts off with the 2024 Hyundai Palisade SE. Highlights of the entry-level package are 18-inch wheels, LED lamps, push-button start, a 12.3-inch touchscreen as the center of the infotainment system and USB ports in the first two rows. The Palisade seats up to eight persons.

The SEL can be purchased for less than $40k. It adds simulated leather seats, roof rails, a hands-free liftgate, dual-zone climate, and heated front seats over the base SE. Plus, you will get a wireless charging pad. The seating capacity drops to seven with captain’s chairs as the standard layout. You can still opt for the bench in the middle row.

The list of features the Premium version is bringing is quite long. Buyers of the Palisade in this trim level are getting a sunroof, large 20-inch rims, heated steering wheel, ventilated first and second row, extra USB ports in the third row, and a power outlet. Driver’s memory setting is available. The safety also gets a boost thanks to parking sensors, lane-keep assist, surround-view camera, and blind-spot camera. The ride is smoother thanks to the self-leveling suspension.

2024 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy and XRT

The top-of-the-range version packs all the stuff from lower trim levels, plus there are a special grille and wheels. It gives a totally different look to the 2024 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy. Inside, you will find premium leather, massage for the driver’s bucket, unique door inserts, customizable lighting, a digital rearview mirror, a Smart Parking system, and many other hi-tech options.

If you are a fan of off-road drive, the 2024 Hyundai Palisade XRT is there. Well, don’t expect the ultimate experience Toyota 4Runner and Jeep Wrangler are offering. Still, it is a good start for the Korean carmaker. The XRT package comes with black roof rails, a sunroof, skid plates, unique wheels and special body trims.

Prices

The base MSRP of the Palisade is slightly higher than most of the competition. It is available for $37,000 in the SE package. The SEL adds nearly $3,000 and stays under $40k. Other versions are between $40k and $50k, while the only model that exceeds this mark is the Calligraphy. But, the unique package in the entire Hyundai family is worth of purchasing, especially if you are a fan of hi-tech gadgets.

Meanwhile, fans are waiting for news about the 2024 Hyundai Palisade hybrid. From this point of view, it seems like this SUV is not happening. But, we won’t underestimate Hyundai, who grew to the top of the automotive industry with constant innovation and technology upgrades.
