The 2022 Hyundai Palisade is the largest SUV by the Japanese carmaker. The company is growing every day, and besides the Palisade, we can see a few more additions to the lineup. The carmaker started the production of the premium SUV, Genesis GV80. So, nothing is unexpected anymore from the Hyundai. Still, the Palisade is coming unchanged, since the SUV debuted last year. Pandemic slowed down the sales and we will see the first true results of Hyundai’s potential in 2022 and beyond.
The SUV belongs to the mid-size three-row market and the competition here is more than tough. Nevertheless, the first impressions say the 2022 Hyundai Palisade is going to be pretty attractive. The Korean company surprised everyone with the clean and attractive styling and a new engine under the hood. In the future, we will definitely see a hybrid configuration, and potentially the performance-oriented Palisade N.
2022 Hyundai Palisade Specs
The mid-size SUV needs a lot of power. Engineers had a task, which was fulfilled successfully. The new source of power for the 2022 Hyundai Palisade is a 3.8-liter V6 unit with 291 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. That is exactly what is expected of the SUV in this class. The gas mileage is at the respectable level. When you select the front-wheel drive, the vehicle returns 19/26 mpg. It drops a bit if you want from eight-speed automatic transmission to distribute power to all four corners. The Palisade is also offering a few drive modes to increase the fuel economy or performance: Eco, Sport, Normal, Smart. The system can recognize driver’s habits and automatically set the mode. The maximum towing capacity is 5,000 pounds. If you need more, but you don’t want a larger vehicle, there are no too many choices that will offer a better hauling potential.
The future will definitely bring more choices for the engine room. Opponents have different approaches. Some companies are trying to deliver the same performance, but a better gas mileage with turbo-four units. On the other hand, alternatives on the counter side include V8 mills. So, it is a game of power and efficiency. Hyundai needs to add something to the lineup, no matter if it downgrades the current offer. Engineers could pick a safe bet with some of the existing drivetrains.
But, Hyundai needs to continue to prove itself. That’s why we expect one of these things to happen: hybrid or the performance version. The first one might use the existing V6. Electric support will enhance outputs, but not more than 10 percent. That is something we met with Acura and Ford SUVs. On the other hand, the high-output edition is going to feature a twin-turbo system that could increase outputs to 370 horsepower. Just as the example, the Genesis GV80 could borrow some of its powertrains.
2022 Hyundai Palisade Packages
Hyundai designers put a lot of effort to make the new SUV attractive, especially to younger buyers. The entry-level version is Palisade SE and owners are pretty surprised with the features it brings. The standard offer includes 18-inch alloy wheels and LED headlights / DRLs. Inside, you will find an 8-inch touchscreen as the center of the infotainment system. The cloth is covering all eight seating spots. Rear parking sensors will improve safety.
A mid-range offer is SEL, which upgrades the same segment with blind-spot monitors and rear cross-traffic warning. Captain’s chairs replace the bench in the middle row. Dual-zone climate control is automatic, front seats are heated, and the driver has an adjustable bucket. The power moonroof is the highlight. Hyundai also introduces keyless ignition and entry to the SEL package.
The 2022 Hyundai Palisade Limited is a premium offer with a dual-panel moonroof upgrade and Nappa leather inside the cockpit. The heated front row is also ventilated. The infotainment screen grows to 12 inches and Harman Kardon delivers a 12-speaker surround-sound. That is not all, since the 2022 Palisade Calligraphy brings the high-end options to make it nearly as much luxurious as the Genesis GV80. The highlights are quilted door panels, suede headliner, large wheels, and perforated leather wrapping for the steering wheel. All-wheel drive is standard.
2022 Hyundai Palisade Price
The base MSRP of the new SUV is pretty attractive, having in mind this is a fresh vehicle, and that comes with pretty nice equipment. The 2022 Hyundai Palisade costs $32,500. The SEL is just north of $35k, while the Limited is a $10,000 upgrade. At this price, you can buy some of the premium mid-size SUVs, such as Lexus RX or Acura MDX. Even with the Calligraphy, the price is not exceeding $50,000.
