2022 Audi Q7: Changes, Hybrid, Prices

1671 0

Q7 is not the largest SUV in Audi’s lineup. The mid-size model is still one of the hottest wheels out there, especially after the facelift in 2020. With the COVID-19 outburst slowing down the automotive industry, we won’t see any huge change on the 2022 Audi Q7. The luxury SUV is one of the best-selling models in the class and the next moves are centered around a hybrid unit. In the foreseeable future, the Q7 will also get an all-electric version, based on the E-Tron technology.

Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige are standard trim levels buyers can pick. The 2022 Audi SQ7 comes back with the same configuration. With 500 hp, it is competitive with the most powerful SUVs in the market. Audi is not going to chase BMW X5M and Mercedes AMG GLE and their 600+ hp configuration. Instead, the Q7 EV might be a response.

Features and Accessories

The entry-level model for the 2022 Audi Q7 is still using the Premium package. Highlights are 19-inch wheels, panoramic roof, and power tailgate. The base version is coming with a four-cylinder engine while selecting the V6 unlocks new options. Some of them are Virtual Cockpit and dynamic turn signals. Soon, the German carmaker will improve the self-driving system and a higher level of autonomous drive is certain.

The Premium Plus trim includes a convenience package. Notable parts of this bundle are a wireless charger, side assist and pre-sense features, as well as the rear cross-traffic alert. Plus, the side mirrors are coming with memory function, heating, power-folding, and auto-dimming. Virtual Cockpit is standard. You are also getting a 19-speaker Bose surround sound system. Again, a larger vehicle comes with special upgrades, and these are larger wheels and unique camera services.

There is something left for the 2022 Audi Q7 Prestige. It is available only with the 55 TFSI configuration (V6 unit). Adaptive cruise control and the air suspension will make a ride more convenient and comfortable. HUD display and unique LED headlights are making this package easy to recognize. Inside the cockpit, Audi adds a quad-zone climate control.

SQ7 – Specs and Options

The 2022 Audi SQ7 is special because of its powerful engine. However, it also uses numerous special upgrades to make an offer more interesting. For example, the same Premium Plus package is going to offer premium Valcona leather for the entire upholstery. Sport seats will increase comfort and 21-inch wheels overall appearance. Special suspension tuning, with unique differential and brakes, will help the SQ7 achieve 160 mph. Add the Prestige package and you will also get a head-up display, heated steering wheel and rear seats, while the front buckets are ventilated.

2022 Audi Q7 Engines and Specifications

The base 2022 Audi Q7 is coming with a turbo-four engine and 248 horsepower. This is an underachieving record for the mid-size luxury SUVs. However, it is Audi’s trick to drop the base price. A small block is not going to help the SUV achieve great gas mileage results, since the Q7 can’t do better than 21 mpg. It drops to 19 mpg with a V6, but most buyers are choosing the six-cylinder unit with 330 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel drive is standard (Quattro) alongside an 8-speed automatic gearbox. A V6 is a very capable engine that can help Q7 tow up to 7,700 pounds.

The SQ7 comes with a mighty 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. With it, the lineup gets a star configuration with 500 hp and 570 lb-ft of torque. Buyers won’t worry too much about the gas mileage. Just for the record, the SQ returns 15/21 mpg. The same transmission and Quattro system are there, but the performance-oriented edition is going to use a special suspension setup to enhance the drive impression.

2022 Audi Q7 E-Tron

The main focus for the future Q7 is the development of a hybrid engine. Many other mid-size luxury SUVs are already taking advantage of this technology. Well, the research costs a lot and it will make the price go up. On the other hand, Audi must catch up with Mercedes and BMW in the first place. The 2022 Audi Q7 Hybrid is a priority since the SUV has a new look which will be there for the next few seasons.

The E-Tron technology is not all about hybrid units, but also the all-electric versions. The Q7 won’t get such a configuration in 2022 but do not underestimate the German carmaker. By 2025 we will definitely see the all-electric mid-size SUV. However, it seems the Q5 will get it soon.

2022 Audi Q7 Prices

The base price of the 2022 Audi Q7 stays around $55,000. However, it is for the model with a four-cylinder engine. If you want power more suitable for the mid-size range, then the Q7 55 TFSI will cost at least $60,000, before upgrades. Prestige package increases the MSRP to $72,000, which is still $13,000 under the base SQ7. Loaded with top-notch options, this performance-oriented SUV will cost more than $115,000.
