After the revisit of the exterior and interior for the 2022 YM, the company is enhancing the only engine for the 2023 season. The 2024 Chevy Equinox will be mostly unchanged. However, there will be another powerplant available – the compact crossover is getting an electric version. It is not a surprise, having in mind how many other EVs General Motors is going to launch in the foreseeable future. Now, the best-selling crossover in the family is also getting modern technology.
The vehicle will continue to use a 1.5-liter turbo engine as the main powerplant option. However, the 2024 Chevy Equinox hybrid is not available again. That is the biggest downside since rivals with such a setup can do 40+ mpg. Instead, the company is preparing an all-electric Equinox. Still, this is not the best replacement for a hybrid unit. Besides that, the gasoline-powered crossover is keeping all the trim levels currently available. Plus, General Motors could prepare a special package, such it was the Redline edition or even the performance-oriented SS version.
2024 Chevy Equinox EV Range and Price
So, the 2024 Chevy Equinox EV is the first thing we’ve learned about the upcoming crossover. It is not a surprise, having in mind that GM is expanding the lineup of electric vehicles. A few models were already announced, and the latest two are wearing a bow tie – Equinox and Silverado EV truck.
The plan is to build a vehicle that can cover more than 300 miles. It puts the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV at the top of the charts. Still, a lot of things depend on the battery – such as performances and price. Sources say that the main goal is to make the crossover affordable. In that case, a shorter range will be offered, for sure. We can’t expect to get the most efficient system at the lowest price. the base electric Equinox is about to cost around $30,000.
The EV is going to use a similar design language to its siblings, Silverado and Bolt. Of course, there is a lot of time to build the perfect model and we still don’t have the first spy photos. The official statement is not offering too many details besides the look of the prototype and two trim levels available.
Packages and Options
The new EV is going to use LT and RS trim levels. Standard model is already out with those, so we can assume what to expect from the electric Equinox. Plus, GM is carrying over the base LS and the high-end Premier packages. Another trim level could be added to refresh the offer. Fans of the crossover hope for the Redline edition, while those looking for extra power want to see the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox SS model.
The LS package is getting you the base equipment. It doesn’t look bad with highlights such as LED lights, 7-inch display, and keyless entry. A set of 17-inch wheels is an entry-level offer, although you can select larger rims. The Convenience package adds a power-adjustable driver’s seat, multi-color driver information display, and rear privacy glass.
Those are standard features for the LT version. Besides them, this trim also comes with a body-colored exterior details, satellite radio, and remote rear-seat folding levers. The LT model also offers more additional packages, such as Confidence & Convenience, or Infotainment (contains larger infotainment display and navigation). The RS enhances the exterior with darkened 19-inch wheels and the interior uses black/red contrasts. Power liftgate and roof rails are standard for the LT, and optionally, you can purchase a leather upholstery.
A heavily-loaded 2024 Chevy Equinox Premier sits at the top of the charts. It adds a lot of advanced options. Some of them are hands-free function for liftgate, rear-view camera, leather seats, and wireless chargers. Higher versions of the Confidence & Convenience and the Infotainment packages are also available for an additional upgrade.
2024 Chevy Equinox Specs
Under the hood of the compact crossover is a turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It is the only drivetrain that delivers 170 hp and 203 lb-ft of torque. The 2024 Chevy Equinox returns 26/31 mpg, which is far for impressive for this class. Its rivals can do 35+mpg with a classic setup. Those with hybrid systems, such as Toyota Rav4, are already above 40 miles per gallon. General Motors and Chevrolet need to catch up, and the Equinox EV doesn’t seem like the best replacement.
Pricing
The 2024 Chevrolet Equinox will be a bit more expensive, since only minor changes are expected. Offers start from just under $27,000 and the base Premier version is going to cost $33,000. Heavily loaded, it can get up to $40,000. That is where experts believe to see upper grades of the Equinox EV, while the entry-level version is about to start around $30,000.
