It seems like the upcoming season is going to be one of the most interesting in the SUV market. We already know that a few new models are coming out, a few will be redesigned, and there are numerous rumors floating about the most popular models.
Here are the details about the 2024 SUVs coming out with significant changes and big expectations. There are even a few EVs. Such models will be more frequent on such lists from 2025 and 2026.
2024 Toyota Grand Highlander (New Model)
The 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander will be a larger version of the standard SUV. The Highlander is the most popular three-row vehicle in the US. The Grand Highlander will make it even more attractive. The SUV comes with petrol and hybrid engines. The Hybrid Max fixes one of the main issues of the standard SUV – a low power output. Plus, the “Grand” stands for a larger vehicle, with extra space in the third row and cargo area.
The base price of the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander will be $43,000. XLE, Limited and Platinum grades are ready for the debut. A 2.4-liter turbo-four engine delivers 265 hp. Hybrid unit is the same one you are getting with the standard Highlander. The new SUV is larger and heavier, so expect a decrease of the mileage.
2024 Honda Pilot PHEV
It is finally happening. Rumors about the redesign are swirling around for years. Pilot made a strong impact in 2015 with the debut of the current generation. The SUV aged and the fourth generation was released this year. But, Honda didn’t finish the upgrade. The 2024 Pilot PHEV is being tested and experts believe it will be out next year.

A 3.5-liter engine is still under the hood of the standard version. We don’t have clues about the plug-in hybrid, yet.

Standard truck is sharing platform with full-size SUVs – Tahoe and Suburban. So, if Silverado goes all-electric, both big rigs are following.
The drivetrain system will be carried over. That means the 2024 Chevy Tahoe EV will be ready to produce up to 754 hp and 785 lb-ft of torque. Maximum range goes up to 400 miles. Big units are needed, so a lighter configuration will be there for the entry-level Tahoe Electric. The full-size SUV will be able to sprint 0-60 mph in just 6.5 seconds. The price won’t be a bargain.
2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV (Electric SUV)
Speaking of electric vehicles – you will hear of General Motors and its brands very often in next couple of years. Besides Silverado and Tahoe, there is another official debut set for the next season. The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV is coming out later this year. The base price of the electric SUV is $45,000.
Wait, there is more. Chevy is bringing back the Blazer SS, but as the EV. This is the best upgrade we’ve heard from the bow-tie company. It triggers further rumors – will there be more vehicles with the SuperSport package? Will all of them be EVs? Well, this is not a cheap upgrade. The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV SS will cost close to $70,000.
2024 Polestar 3 (Ultra-Luxury Electric SUV)
Volvo EX90 electric is already out. Now, it is time for the luxury branch to upgrade the offer. It is strange to say that Volvo has a premium segment, with the Swedish company being one of the most recognizable carmakers of high-end quality vehicles. But, the 2024 Polestar 3 is ready to take the game to another level. Late in 2022, the new model was announced and now we are waiting to see everything it brings.
From what we know so far, the SUV will be ready to deliver 510 horsepower and 670 lb-ft of torque. Optional configurations can enhance the battery pack, which will have a range up to 370 miles. A six-digit price was never in doubt. The 2024 Polestar 3 will start off from $135k.
2024 Mazda CX-90 (New SUV)
Mazda is no longer in a partnership with Ford. That opened doors to new projects and the Japanese company already built an inline-six engine. The 2024 Mazda CX-90 will feature this one. The powerplant uses electric support, creating a mighty plug-in hybrid with 280 horsepower. A few drive modes are available across the lineup, including Sport and Off-Road. Sales start later this year as 2024 YM, and the base price of the CX-90 is $40k.
There are two configurations available for the new SUV. The 3.3-liter inline-three engine can deliver 280 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. That is not bad for the three-row SUV. But, further enhancement squeezes more power – 340 hp and 369 lb-ft. The performance version will be good enough to compete with some premium brands and SUVs.
2024 Ford Excursion (Comeback)
After tons of rumors, we finally found some speculations about the return of the heavy-duty 2024 Ford Excursion SUV. The upcoming model will be based on the F-250 truck. The Super Duty lineup was updated recently, so the Excursion can borrow a lot from siblings. It will be the largest SUV in the market, with plenty of space for passengers and cargo.
