Jeep definitely had to do something with the compact crossover class. Their vehicles are not as popular as some bigger SUVs, such as Wrangler and Grand Cherokee. Engines couldn’t excite you and the company lacks plenty of options. For example, a hybrid drivetrain. But, the 2024 Jeep Cherokee is coming to change the situation. We can’t expect it to launch Jeep at the very high class with Toyota and Honda, but the crossover should be more recognizable in the upcoming seasons.
The future of the Cherokee model was under the question mark, with native Americans calling for the name change. But, it didn’t happen, so the crossover is back with the same nameplate. The 2024 Jeep Cherokee should be an all-new model with a fresh design, updated interior and expanded engine choices. One of the certain additions is the PHEV model called Cherokee 4xe. We already saw it on the Wrangler and Gladiator truck. Also, Jeep is going all-electric with the Recon EV.
All in all, this is going to be the sixth generation of the vehicle (the third and fourth were called Liberty). The current version was out for ten years, which is a very long period for the compact crossover.
2024 Jeep Cherokee New Generation
According to reports from various sources, the all-new 2024 Jeep Cherokee is on the way. It is about time, since the crossover is old for a quite while. While waiting for the new generation, expectations were getting higher. Now, the Cherokee needs to catch up with the competition. The compact crossover class generates the most sales in the US market. Toyota, Honda and Ford sell more than 300,000 units per annum. Jeep was on the same way, but since 2018 the sales are declining. In 2022, the company couldn’t sell 50k units. This was probably the trigger and the final call for the big redesign and the new generation.
What Will 2024 Jeep Cherokee Look Like?
Prototypes of the next 2024 Jeep Cherokee are not on the streets yet, so there are no spy shots as well. The company is currently focused on other projects, such as Recon and Wagoneer EVs. But, those concepts were ready for the introduction. As soon as the situation calms down, the new Cherokee will be announced. Well, there is no too much time left, since the next season is just around the corner, and there are many things to be improved and changed on the upcoming crossover.
We are still waiting for the first concepts to show up. Meanwhile, some leading news agencies are already reporting that the company ended the production of the Cherokee, and that the next-gen version will take place in the same plants. So, nothing else left but to wait.
2024 Jeep Cherokee 4xe PHEV Model
Like the next generation, a hybrid drivetrain is also a certain thing for the new crossover. The 2024 Jeep Cherokee 4xe is going to use the PHEV system. We saw this badge on the Wrangler for the first time. But, the smaller crossover is not going to offer such a powerful configuration. Instead, a smaller block will be focused on maximizing the gas mileage. Also, the plug-in hybrid system is able to use an electric motor only, but the range is not as long as for the EVs. Still, 30 miles would be more than enough to get to the next gas station.
Trailhawk, SRT and Other Grades
Jeep was always known for a wide choice of trim levels and options. Well, the company didn’t put as much effort to the compact crossover class as for some other larger SUVs. Still, the Cherokee was quite popular. Now, with a hybrid engine, it should draw more attention. But, the best models require excellent performance.
The 2024 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk, for example, needs extra power to get over all the off-road obstacles. Skid plates, special wheels, and of course, AWD are highlights of this one. But, one model can overshadow the Trailhawk – the 2024 Cherokee SRT. Still, it is not likely to happen. The carmaker erased this badge from the Grand Cherokee lineup, and left it exclusively for the Dodge vehicles. Still, a limited-edition, high-performance crossover would always be welcome.
Release Date and Price
Stellantis Group will have to speed things up and launch the new 2024 Jeep Cherokee as soon as possible. The competition is fiercesome and Jeep is already falling behind the leading companies and models. So, the all-new Cherokee will be out by the end of 2023. Like every next-gen model, the crossover is coming with a higher price. Plus, the PHEV version is also adding some value. Anyway, we won’t make predictions until the final version is announced with more details on the changes the crossover is bringing.
