The TNGA-F is the platform that will allow engineers to bring a new plant. Reports say a V8 is too big for the new concept. But, the Japanese company is preparing a turbocharged V6 as a replacement. Those are not new rumors, since the I-Force Max nameplate is in the process of registration. The new trademark will be obtained soon and we will see the powertrain on the upcoming Tundra. Meanwhile, the 2023 Toyota Sequoia will be a mechanical twin.
So, there are a few options for the big rig. We won’t exclude a 5.7-liter V8 yet, since the company didn’t confirm the new unit. Owners of Sequoia are happy with the existing plant and the major downside is the fuel economy. On the other hand, an eight-cylinder mill can produce 381 hp and 400 lb-ft. Previously, the number in the alphanumeric nameplate was showing a displacement (LX570 was using a 5.7 engine). Now, the LX600 is not clearing out anything. Will there be a 6.0-liter engine? Or the total output can reach 600 horsepower. Some experts say a 3.4-liter unit from the Lexus LS would do the job. But still, fans would like to see a new engine, rather than the updated configuration from some of the existing models.
