The Czech company is growing ever since Volkswagen takeover. The German company modernized not only plants, but also every segment of car making. Now, we see Skoda’s vehicles being competitive in many European countries. Of course, they will cost less than VW products.

The 2023 Skoda Kodiaq is one of the vehicles that are pretty popular in this part of the world. It is based on the Tiguan Allspace, the three-row SUV. Although it is a mid-size SUV, the Kodiaq is smaller than Touareg. Petrol and diesel configurations are available, while the hybrid version is still under consideration. The RS is the top of the range model.

What to expect from the 2023 Skoda Kodiaq?

The SUV might come with small changes for the new season. The current version is becoming old. Still, small updates were happening in past few years, and the big facelift is still not planned. The interior needs the most modifications. This is a lower-tier SUV than Volkswagen’s models, so the expectations can’t be so big. Still, the 2023 Skoda Kodiaq will be a good way to save some money if the Tiguan, Tiguan Allspace and Touareg are too expensive.

Engines

A 1.4-liter petrol engine is the base version. The gasoline unit is good for 125 horsepower in its entry-level form, but you can pick an enhanced model with 150 ponies. The difference is in the transmission. Upper scale SUV, besides a six-pace manual, is available with the automatic gearbox. A 1.5-liter Eco TSI puts out 150 hp, but through a seven-speed automatic case. The best performance comes with a 2.0-liter TSI. The 4Motion badge suggests all-wheel drive in all configurations. Plus, 7-speed auto transmission is also standard. Buyers will pick outputs – 180, 190, or even 220 hp if you are buying the 2023 Skoda Kodiaq in China. This is the GT model with various other upgrades on the SUV.

All the diesel setups have two things in common. The first one is a displacement – a 2.0-liter unit, and the other one is a 7-speed automatic gearbox. The base version delivers 150 hp and also uses a six-speed manual in the entry-level form. Instead of a 190 hp setup, now the SUV is tuned to 200 ponies. The top of the range version is the 2023 Skoda Kodiaq RS with 240 horsepower.

Packages

Depending on the market, we’ll see different options available for the Kodiaq. Still, the company will stick to some proven packages. The Scout and Sportline are two standard packages with underbody protection for an off-road drive. The ground clearance is around 8 inches. Of course, AWD will help, and we recommend using a diesel unit if you plan adventures.

The 2023 Skoda Kodiaq RS is not going to be all about the engine. This is the fastest version but also looks the coolest. For example, leather seats are standard, and there is a lot of carbon details. Sports steering wheel and the latest infotainment technology are the highlights of this SUV. Large wheels with red brake calipers make the look so distinctive. In China, Kodiaq GT is a special model with a coupe cabin and a powerful petrol engine. The company is also planning to update this version in the foreseeable future.
