2023 Nissan Armada Changes Preview

The largest SUV is the last in the line for the redesign. The company already started the process of updating the entire portfolio. But, the 2023 Nissan Armada is something special. Some sources claim the big rig is going to be based on the Monograph concept, although it was presented as the platform for the Infiniti QX80. However, details and pieces of the new architecture will be notable, but the Monograph concept will fully shine in the premium segment.

Nissan did a great job on the Rogue, and the next one is Pathfinder. Then, we’ll see the 2023 Nissan Armada out at dealerships. The first spy photos are still missing. So, the company is not in the rush with the premiere. Well, the full-size segment is not the best-selling class, and that is the reason why fans of this vehicle will have to wait for so long. Anyway, expect a lot of changes, outside and inside. The current generation is out since 2017, and the minor refresh for the 2021 YM is not just enough.

New Engine

A 5.6-liter V8 is a reliable and durable powerplant, but it might be time for changes. Ford is already using a turbocharged V6, and Toyota is on the same path to do the same with Sequoia. Our sources informed us that Nissan has those plans for a while, but the I-Force engine arrival will speed up the process. Nevertheless, our intels don’t have further details about the new configuration. But, having in mind what happens with the competition, the key is in the better gas mileage. The power outputs should stay at a similar level.

Still, until the new powertrain shows up, we can count on the V8. This unit is good for 400 hp and 415 lb-ft. It allows the Armada to slide over any obstacle. However, gas mileage is the biggest issue. The big rig can return only 15 mpg combined, and the lowest it goes is 13 miles per gallon in the city. Well, from such a huge vehicle you don’t expect to be a fuel-saver, but the frequent visits to gas stations can be annoying.

2023 Nissan Armada Diesel and Hybrid

It is still a far-fetched story, but the 2023 Nissan Armada hybrid could actually happen. Such technology is under development by most automotive companies. The gas mileage boost will cost you some towing capacity, and maybe power. A kind of twin-turbo V6 with an electric motor could be a good choice, especially if it gets a power enhancement.

On the other hand, the Armada diesel could be an easier solution, since Nissan already used it. The problem is – the Cummins plant is cut out from the lineup of the Titan XD lineup. With 330 hp and 550 lb-ft, the engine would be competitive with other full-size SUVs using oil burners.

2023 Nissan Armada Redesign Expectations

The Japanese automotive giant is not going to miss the opportunity to add some features from the Monograph concept. Still, it is questionable in what dose it will be. Small one, for sure, since the Infiniti QX80 will introduce the best from the futuristic platform. The 2023 Armada is a non-premium vehicle, although optional upgrades can make it pretty luxurious.

Four trim levels will still be there for sure. The base version is S, mid-range packages are SL and SV, while the Platinum tops the lineup. It is a cool premium option, since it costs $67,000 and brings 22-inch wheels, quilted leather, heated and ventilated first two rows, and one of the best things about the 2023 Nissan Armada Platinum is going to be a rear entertainment system. If that’s not enough, you should go after the Infiniti SUV, Nissan’s premium segment.

We are still waiting to see if the big rig is going to use diesel or hybrid drivetrains. That will add more options, and probably extra trims. One of the most anticipated versions could be the Armada Nismo. Still, the company is not so keen on upgrading big vehicles with this package. Cars are offering Nismo trims, and the only crossover that will give you such an option is the Juke. As you already know, it is not available in the US anymore.

2023 Nissan Armada Release Date

The new SUV will keep the base price below $55,000. Most carmakers try to stay under this mark, but it will be breached soon. A few years ago, we were talking about $50k, but every new model adds something special. The SV is not going to bring too many extras, while the SL is the most popular upgrade. The premium Platinum package will cost around $67,000.

The vehicle is going to show up late in 2022, probably in the last quarter. By then, Nissan will premiere the new Armada and we expect to get a few spy photos. A good indicator that something is going on is the prototype of the Patrol SUV, caught in Australia.
