Will there be a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk?

946 0

The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is still going to be the top of the class model. But, serious changes will happen. There will be two versions of the Trackhawk package. The current one which uses a mighty supercharged engine will be called Trackhawk Hellcat, or Trackhawk TRX. FCA is returning the SRT badge to Dodge. Grand Cherokee was the only vehicle outside the Dodge lineup to use this trim. Now, that package is going to be renamed and it will also carry the Trackhawk badge. Not only Jeep is keeping the nameplate, but it also expands the lineup.

As top of the class model, the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk will be the most expensive configuration you can find. The Hellcat engine delivers 707 horsepower and that is the main upgrade that increases the value. On the other hand, ex-SRT is weaker, but far from weak configurations. The new version might squeeze 500 horsepower from a 6.4-liter V8 mill. Plus, there are various other drivetrains, body, and interior additions that will make the ride even more comfortable and reliable.

2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk Hellcat Specs

The most powerful SUV in the market is not taking this spot anymore. FCA expanded the Hellcat lineup. After so many speculations, the Ram 1500 truck started using a 6.2-liter V8 unit. The configuration is tuned to 702 ponies. But, one model is stealing the show – Dodge Durango. The SUV also steps up and delivers 710 horsepower from the same drivetrain. For the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 mill is good for 707 hp. All-wheel drive is standard, while the gearbox that transfers power to axles is an eight-speed automatic. Engineers are thinking about switching to some other transmission.

You can’t expect high gas mileage from such a powerful setup. The Trackhawk Hellcat will return only 13 mpg combined. Owners of the SUV won’t care about the price of the gas, since the MSRP of the vehicle is above $90k. But, frequent visits to gas stations will definitely be annoying.

2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT is Becoming Trackhawk

The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk entry-level version is ex-SRT. Dodge will again be the exclusive brand to use the SRT badging. But, the Grand Cherokee is going to keep the configuration. The biggest change is the renaming, but there will also be minor modifications to this package. Still, the centerpiece is a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 plant. It is good for 475 hp and 470 lb-ft, but in the future, outputs are going to raise. Some experts believe the Trackhawk SRT is going to produce more than 500 hp. Again, AWD is standard, and the fuel economy is poor. This engine covers 13/19 mpg. Slightly better than Hellcat, but the output is still very poor.

Prices and Competition

The cost of the mighty Hellcat mill exceeds $90,000 before you add anything to the existing configuration. Well, AWD and Nappa leather are included, plus most of the luxury features Jeep is offering. The SUV is also perfect for off-roading. On the other hand, Wrangler, or Toyota 4Runner are way cheaper options, plus the maintenance and gas mileage are big advantages. The SRT model, which will turn into the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk base edition, is also pretty expensive. You will have to spend at least $71,000 to get this performance SUV.

The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk doesn’t have a true rival. We can consider Durango as the competition, but it comes from the same company. There are a few luxury SUV that stuns the market with outputs. But, German carmakers, BMW and Mercedes are even more expensive. For the BMW X5 M Competition with 615 horsepower, you will pay $120,000, while the Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE 63 with 605 ponies costs even more.

Entire Cherokee Lineup to be Renamed?

Native Americans are raising their voice against the usage of the Cherokee name. So, the FCA is facing a possible renaming of its popular crossover and SUV. The carmaker won’t let it go so easily, but Native Americans forced the NFL franchise, Washington Redskins, to change the name. An agreement should settle down the problems and we are sure that Grand Cherokee will still be out in the market in years to come.
