2023 Jeep Cherokee Minor Changes, Infotainment Update, and Trailhawk Model Review

899 0

Only minor changes will be there on the 2022 YM, meaning the 2023 Jeep Cherokee is coming with more modifications. The latest update included a tech upgrade. Now, FCA and Jeep are ready for further improvements, but only in the technology segment. The new Uconnect 5.0 system is about to debut soon, which will put the Compass on the list of crossovers with the best multimedia system.

The small SUV is a good option both for roads and other terrains. Well, it is not going to offer the 4×4 experience of its larger siblings, such as Wrangler and Grand Cherokee. Still, drivetrains are economical. The 2023 Jeep Cherokee will take the position between Compass, a compact crossover, and Grand Cherokee, a mid-size SUV. That is why it needs versatile engines. Naturally-aspirated four-pot mill, as well as turbo-four and a V6 are options. The downside – the lack of a hybrid system – will still be a huge disadvantage.

2023 Jeep Cherokee Specifications

The base engine is not too powerful. Nevertheless, the company will keep a four-pot mill as the entry-level option for a small percentage of buyers looking for a small SUV with good mpg ratings. A 2.4-liter plant, popular Tigershark, is ready to deliver 180 hp and 170 lb-ft of torque. On highways, the gas mileage is the best, with 31 mpg. Optional all-wheel drive upgrade is going to cost about $2,000, but the fuel economy is also going down to 29 on the highway and 24 mpg overall.

A turbocharged 2.0-liter engine seems to be a better option. It increases power to 270 hp and torque to 295 lb-ft. The gas mileage is at approximately the same level. So, the 2023 Jeep Cherokee turbo is going to cost more only for the starting price. However, the Trailhawk edition is specialized for off-road conditions, affecting fuel economy for driving the crossover SUV in the city and highways.

The situation is the same with a V6. Cherokee still keeps a 3.2-liter mill that delivers 270 hp and 240 lb-ft. Front- and all-wheel drive are options, and all engines and configurations are using a nine-speed automatic transmission as the power router.

Models and Accessories

One of the strong sides of every Jeep crossover and SUV is a wide choice of trim levels. Everything starts with the Latitude model. A 2.4-liter naturally-aspirated engine is the only powertrain. Highlights of the base version are rain-sensing wipers, roof rails, and a nice package of safety features. There are blind-spot monitors, forward collision warning, and lane keep assistance. After the update of the Uconnect, we expect more from the infotainment system. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will remain standard options, while more functions should be available.

Latitude Plus adds foglights and a wiper de-icer. Its multimedia is already on a higher level. Interior options available for this package are keyless entry with remote start, heated seats and steering wheel, and power-adjustable driver’s bucket. With the Latitude Lux, you are eligible to upgrade the drivetrain. More powerful options become an option – turbocharged and V6 mills. Besides that, Lux also brings leather seats and power-adjusting for the passenger seat.

The 2023 Jeep Cherokee Limited is the most luxurious version in the lineup. Designers will revisit the package and update it with the latest features. Of course, more powerful engines are there, and you can recognize the trim thanks to a set of 18-inch wheels. Upgrades for the Limited edition are also power liftgate, memory settings for driver seat, multiple-zone climate control, advanced audio system, panoramic sunroof, and adaptive cruise control.

2023 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk and Other Upgrades

The Limited model is definitely going to stun you, but when it comes to performance, the 2023 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk is the king in this squad. The upgrades continue from the Latitude Plus trim. The Trailhawk adds all-terrain tires, locking rear axle, Active Drive lock system, and 4×4 with all-terrain tires. Large touchscreen sits at the center of the dashboard. And, the 2023 Cherokee Trailhawk will be there only with a V6 engine for the best performance.

Not only this one, but also other versions, can be eligible for further optional upgrades. For example, Jeep will offer a few subtrim levels, such as Altitude. For the Limited edition, we expect the Elite bundle to come back with high-end options – ventilated front buckets, heated rear seats, and navigation. To maximize the towing capacity, the special package comes with a class 3 hitch, wiring harness, and unique powertrain cooling.

Pricing

The 2023 Jeep Cherokee will be available in the second half of the year. The company is not going to rush with the release date, waiting for the launch of the Uconnect 5.0 infotainment system. The price will start again at $27,000, but most buyers will skip it because of the unimpressive engine. Well, Latitude Plus adds $4,500, while the off-road ready Trailhawk won’t be under $38,000.
