The biggest change on the new 2023 GMC Yukon is the introduction of the Ultimate upgrade for the Denali package. The SUV was already very luxurious, but this will take it to the next level. Also, we will see an upgrade of the off-road oriented AT4 to the AT4x model. Besides that, the new Yukon will remain the same.
The big SUV is available with a pair of V8 petrol engines. A good alternative is a diesel drivetrain. In the future, an all-electric Yukon is going to debut. For now, General Motors is only preparing Cadillac Escalade EV for all full-size SUVs. Chevy Silverado is already being electrified.
Denali Ultimate and standard Denali are the most luxurious versions with the highest price. The AT4x is the model you want for an off-road adventure. There are also an entry-level SLE and the SLT as probably one of the best choices. Here you are not getting high-end options, but the 2023 GMC Yukon is still packed nicely, while the price stays at a reasonable level.
2023 GMC Yukon Specs
Under the hood of the 2023 GMC Yukon is a 5.3-liter V8 petrol engine. The company doesn’t want to mess with smaller displacements, offering the real deal to their buyers. This unit is good for 355 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque. It also comes with a nice towing capacity record. A ten-speed automatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels. A 5.3 displacement is not available for the Denali model.
There, a 6.2-l V8 is a standard powerplant. It increases power and torque outputs to 420 hp and 460 lb-ft. The same transmission is a power router. A 6.2 engine is also available for the AT4x. However, on the off-road model, the 4×4 is standard.
Speaking of the 2023 GMC Yukon AT4x, a diesel unit is not an option there. Fans are not happy, but this is the final decision. Still, a 3.0-liter turbodiesel Duramax engine is there for all other versions. It develops 277 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque. Again, a ten-speed gearbox sends power to either rear or both axles. A 5.3-l engine is the least expensive. A diesel unit is a $2,500 upgrade, while you need to pay $3,000 to get a larger petrol displacement.
The SLE is the base version of the 2023 GMC Yukon. The starting package includes 18-inch wheels, LED lamps, a push-button start, a 10-inch screen, and room for 8 people. Of course, the most popular smartphone integration services will be available. The list of safety features is pretty long even for the entry-level unit.
The mid-range 2023 Yukon SLT is bringing larger wheels and an improved safety package. It seems reasonable to pay extra to get a hands-free liftgate, leather seats with cooling and ventilating, Bose audio, and a wireless charging pad. Some of those upgrades are available only for the high-end trim levels for most vehicles. The SLT Luxury package is an optional upgrade.
2023 GMC Yukon AT4x and Denali Ultimate
From there on, you can pick either a luxury model or an off-road specialist. The 2023 Yukon AT4x carries over most of the configuration from its predecessor. Still, the company changes the setup a bit, to make the full-size SUV more capable of driving in the toughest terrains. For example, the AT4x comes with Multimatic DSSV dampers and rear electronic locking differentials, compared to Rancho twin-tube shocks and G80 locking differential.
Like with AT4x and AT4, the Ultimate version of the Denali model will change the luxury package a bit. A front grille now features a unique Vader chrome and GMC badge. Plus, the carmaker brings new wheels with low gloss black finishes. The rest of the package is pretty much the same. The Technology package is included, as well as the Bose audio with 14 speakers, and buckets in the middle row (7-seat layout).
2023 GMC Yukon XL
Like most American full-size SUVs, there is a long-wheelbase version of the vehicle. The 2023 GMC Yukon XL extends the body, making more room in the back. It is a twin of the Chevy Suburban and the rival to the Ford Expedition Max. We can also mention the LWB models of Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator, and Jeep Wagoneer. Japanese carmakers are not so keen on such upgrades.
So, with only AT4x and Denali Ultimate package being new, there is no reason to change the pricing of the 2023 GMC Yukon. That means the base version will cost from $56,000. You can replace an engine with a diesel unit for $2,500 and add AWD for $3,000. The SLT Offers the same upgrades, but the starting price is $62,500. The AT4x won’t be under $70,000, but it has AWD included in the package. Denali Ultimate is the most expensive configuration. Load it with a 6.2 V8 and AWD, and the MSRP hits $80k. Luckily, there are no too many optional features left for an additional purchase.
