2023 GMC Terrain Redesign and Denali Model

854 0

The 2023 GMC Terrain is not going to be the best choice if you are looking for a compact crossover. The engine is not going to impress. It also lacks alternatives. General Motors is not putting a lot of effort into the hybridization and it seems the focus is on electric vehicles. Chevy Bolt EUV, Cadillac Lyriq, GMC Hummer… all those models will be EV. Meanwhile, existing vehicles are suffering without hybrid systems, while the competition is taking advantage.

The small GMC crossover is not bringing too many changes for the 2023 season. The carmaker redesigned the vehicle for the 2021 season. However, the premiere of the model had to be postponed and we are seeing an all-new Terrain in 2022. Only a year after the facelift, it is not common to make another dose of changes.

Still, there are a few good things about the 2023 GMC Terrain. First of all, its styling is eye-catching. Nevertheless, not all viewers are going to be impressed. But, a couple of trim levels will leave you breathless. Fans of the off-road drive will find the AT4 as one of the best upgrades in the compact crossover market. The Terrain Denali can be considered as the premium model, thanks to all the advanced equipment, upscale material, and starting price.

How Much for the 2023 GMC Terrain?

Since there won’t be changes on the crossover, the price stays put. That means the base MSRP will be around $28,000. It is a bit higher than the competition, but the 2023 GMC Terrain brings more standard features. We will go through all the trim levels later. The SLT is a very good upgrade for $3,000, but still way behind the Denali package. The price is telling it all – $37,000 and you are also getting all-wheel drive. That is a $1,600 upgrade for a couple of lower trim levels. Of course that four-wheel drive will be standard on the AT4 off-road package. This one will cost you $34,000 before you start upgrading it.

When Will 2023 GMC Terrain Be Available?

Again, the low level of changes is not putting the 2023 Terrain at the top of priority list for the release date. So, the end of 2022 seems to be the period when we can expect the new crossover to show up. Meanwhile, General Motors will continue the work on its electric vehicles.

Engine Specs, No Hybrid

There is no excitement about the engine of the crossover. Still, the GM delivers a reliable 1.5-liter turbo-four unit with 170 hp and 205 lb-ft of torque. With the front-wheel drive, it returns 25/30 mpg. If you pick an all-wheel drive, the highway rating drops to 28 miles per gallon. The AT4 can make it worse, depending on the terrain and weather conditions.

The 2023 GMC Terrain is not bringing the hybrid system. If this crossover and other models by General Motors want to stay competitive, such a configuration is a must-have. Main rivals are already exploring the hybrid market and it seems that Ford, Toyota and Nissan are quite successful with it. On the other hand, GM and FCA need to catch up, but the response is still missing.

Features, Equipment

The SLE and SLT are the entry-level trim levels for the 2023 Terrain. The base model is equipped with LED lamps, a keyless entry system, a 7-inch touchscreen as the center of infotainment that supports both Android and Apple devices, and six-speaker audio. On the safety end, there are lane keep assist and forward collision warnings with automatic brakes. The 2023 Terrain SLT brings a few premium options, such as a hands-free liftgate and leather upholstery. Roof rails are also added, as well as the remote ignition. A larger screen and wheels will make a statement. The HD camera is part of the infotainment system.

2023 GMC Terrain AT4

The 2023 GMC Terrain AT4 is a cheaper version of two high-end packages. This one builds up the SLT and makes the crossover an excellent all-terrain vehicle. Skid plates are protecting the body from damaging. Plus, the AT4 trim comes with special exterior and interior details. Nevertheless, the main upgrades are enhancing the 4×4 drive. So, shocks and suspension must make the ride smoother and more comfortable. The Terrain doesn’t have too many rivals, since other companies are not paying too much attention to all-terrain upgrades on such small vehicles.

2023 GMC Terrain Denali

The Denali badge is available on most GMC vehicles as the top of the class trim. For the compact crossover, designers prepared some stunning features, such as Bose audio, wireless charging, and HUD. This is equipment that most other rivals can’t match. The safety is also at another level with blind-spot monitors, parking sensors, and the upcoming 2023 GMC Terrain Denali might also bring the Super Cruise control.
