The SUV is finally out. Fans also learned about the new Bronco Sport, a smaller crossover based on the same idea. But, it is not the end. The upcoming SUV will continue to expand the offer. The company confirmed the desert racing 2023 Ford Bronco DR will be a limited-time offer. Still, there are six trim levels already available for the iconic vehicle. Of course, the Bronco Raptor is still the biggest wish for most fans. Besides that one, we are also waiting for the debut of the hybrid system.

The Bronco is still a new vehicle. It didn’t disappoint, although fans had to wait for it longer than expected. But, the 2023 Ford Bronco makes it up with exceptional off-road capabilities. Again, no surprise there. Fans and experts knew it will be a tough SUV. The design is also making a statement, while buyers have a lot of options to choose from. Be aware – the equipment you decide to add might be pretty expensive. Also, the engine is pretty thirsty, although a four-pot is the main source of power.

Under the Hood

We are not surprised to see a 2.3-liter turbo-four engine being the powerplant for the 2023 Ford Bronco. The unit is also available for the Mustang. The SUV is getting 275 hp and 315 lb-ft of torque. Buyers can add more money to get a high-performance version of the system (300 hp, 325 lb-ft). Either way, you will get poor gas mileage. The Bronco will return 20 mpg combined, at its best. Off-road tuned versions increase consumption.

A V6 engine is not going to fix the situation. The gas mileage is the same – 20 mpg in the base package, and 17 mpg in Badlands. But, the power and torque outputs jump to 330 hp and 415 pound-feet. Still, you will have to use premium fuel to maximize the performance. A ten-speed automatic gearbox is standard. Surprisingly – Ford made a manual transmission available, but only for the turbo-four engine.

Packages

There will be at least six standard trim levels available for the upcoming 2023 YM. The DR is also confirmed but as a limited edition. Of course, we are looking to find out if the Raptor is finally becoming available. So, everything starts with the Base package. It includes a 2.3-liter engine, 16-inch wheels, LED lights, tow hooks, cloth upholstery, and a six-speaker sound system. There are five drive modes as a part of the basic terrain management.

The 2023 Ford Bronco Big Bend is the next trim. LED foglights are added, as well as a revisited grille, tinted windows, and larger wheels. Additional mode is available for the terrain management system. Black Diamond model comes with parts for a serious off-road drive. For example, you will get heavy-duty bumpers, front and rear, skid plates, and rock rails. Another drive mode is included.

The Bronco Outer Banks puts more focus on styling. Details such as body-color door handle, fender flares and mirrors are fancy. All-terrain tires wrap 18-inch alloy wheels, and there are side step rails as well. The Badlands is the combo of Big Bend and Black Diamond features, plus a few more parts. The Wildtrak is a replacement for the Raptor. All of those models are available in two- and four-door layouts.

2023 Ford Bronco DR, Raptor, Hybrid

Let’s start with the official announcement for the new season. The 2023 Ford Bronco DR is the desert-racing model, that will be available for a short period. Ford Performance department is upgrading mostly everything on this SUV. The highlight is a 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine. The Bronco DR should be the most powerful model in the lineup. Of course, there are distinctive body updates, everything the Baja 1000 race needs to get. If you want to find out more about this version and make a pre-order, you can do it HERE.

Besides that, we are still waiting for updates about the Raptor and Hybrid models. Speculations about the first one are there ever since the company announced the comeback. We already learned that patience is required with the Bronco. Raptor might not be the priority, especially with complaints about the poor fuel economy. The 2023 Ford Bronco Hybrid is a logical solution. But, it is not an easy decision – such a model would harm off-road abilities of the SUV.

2023 Ford Bronco Prices

The entry-level 2-door version of the 2023 Ford Bronco will stay under $30k. Upgrade to a four-door model will cost you $4,000 for the Base package, and it is not the same for the entire lineup. For example, Big Bend 4-door is only $2,500 higher than the standard configuration. Black Diamond keeps both versions under $40k, and this mark splits 2- and 4-door 2023 Ford Bronco Outer Banks. Badlands costs $43,000-$45,000, while the most expensive Wildtrak is just under $50k. Such pricing matches the biggest rival’s cost. Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco will definitely be the biggest competitors in the off-road segment.
