The largest SUV in the family could become even bigger. The company is preparing the 2023 Chevy Suburban HD, according to rumors. But, no official statement is coming from the GM. The standard SUV is coming out the same it is now. The new generation debuted recently, so there is no need for huge changes. Minor updates, additions and cuts are possible. Alternatives to Suburban are GMC Yukon XL, its mechanical twin, or the premium Cadillac Escalade ESV.
The biggest advantage of the 2023 Chevy Suburban will be its space. The SUV can take up to nine passengers. You can cut some spots via different packages. Anyway, there will be enough room for cargo area behind the seats. With all of them down, you can get up to 145 cubic feet. Under the hood are powerful units. All starts with a 5.3-liter V8, and buyers can also pick a 6.2-liter unit or even a diesel. A hybrid model is not in plans for now. Electric vehicles are coming, but it won’t be Suburban.
On the other hand, the SUV needs more towing capacity. The base model is not going to bring a stunning effect. Higher trim levels are impressive but can cost hefty. The size has its price, and it is tough maneuverability.
Engines, Specifications, Towing Capacity
A 5.3-liter V8 is the base choice for the big 2023 Chevy Suburban. It can deliver 355 hp and 385 lb-ft of torque. More than enough for the entry-level version. Still, it gets better at higher trims, when a 6.2-liter unit takes charge. It increases the outputs to 420 hp and 460 lb-ft. Additionally, the company offers a 3.0-liter Duramax turbodiesel.
Chevrolet was a leader in power and torque compared to the competition, but it was not reflected into towing capacity. Now, the oil burner for the Silverado truck can haul more than 13,000 pounds. We’ll see what will happen to the 2023 Chevy Suburban. The previous version did only 8,000 lbs, which was one of the downsides. Both V8 petrol plants are good for 8,300 pounds. All engines are sending power to rear wheels by default. A 10-speed automatic gearbox is a router, and it can also distribute energy to all four wheels. The gas mileage is not impressive, but we don’t expect too much from a vehicle that has a gross weight of 7,700 pounds.
Models and Changes for the 2023 Chevy Suburban
There are plenty of options for the 2023 Chevy Suburban. The SUV is available in six trim levels before you start upgrading it with different packages and features. The entry-level model is the LS. The list of features is long, but it is not too impressive. The center of the infotainment system is an 8-inch display. Some compact crossovers offer a bigger screen, and the huge SUV definitely needs something larger. The LT fixes the situation with a 10-inch touchscreen, leather seats, heated first row and Bose audio. The RST is making the Suburban more aggressive, thanks to the special package of exterior upgrades.
The 2023 Chevy Suburban Z71 can be called a premium version. This one adds 20-inch wheels, higher ground clearance, all-terrain tires, hill descent control, and a two-speed transfer case to improve an off-road driving impression. The Premier bundle comes with magnetically controlled shock absorbers, a sound system with more speakers, a seating capacity for seven persons, and ventilated front seats. The High Country is the most expensive configuration. It all starts with a 6.2-liter V8 engine. This package also comes with a 360-degree camera, HUD, and unique grille as standard features. One of the coolest optional upgrades is the rear-seat infotainment system.
2023 Chevy Suburban HD
The hottest rumor about the upcoming vehicle is about the 2023 Chevy Suburban HD model. It is not impossible, having in mind that Ford Excursion might be back as well. Plus, the SUV class is expanding, so we can see new models every season. There are a lot of different models in the market. The heavy-duty truck-based model is definitely something special. More power, more room, higher towing capacity, special platform, and a lot more are gained if the Suburban HD debuts. The price of such a model would be around $60,000.
2023 Chevy Suburban Release Date and Price
Since no big changes are expected on the 2023 Chevy Suburban, the price should stay put. That means the MSRP starts just under $55,000. All-wheel drive adds around $3,000 and the diesel engine is a $1,000 worth upgrade. A 6.2-liter unit becomes available for the RST version. It increases the value by about $4,000. Premier and High Country cost more than $70,000. With all-wheel drive and other packages, the price can reach $90,000. The Z71 is at the same level as High Country when you pick a 6.2-liter engine. The SUV is going to be out in the last quarter of 2022. The current focus is on debuts of electric vehicles, such as Hummer truck and Lyriq SUV.
