The 2023 Chevy Equinox is unchanged compared to the previous season. The company updated the vehicle for the 2021 YM, but this one had to be postponed for 2022 because of the COVID-19 outburst. Now, the new Equinox is ready to shine with a fresh look and updated packages. The main sources of power are still the same. Sadly, there is no hybrid engine available yet. To stay competitive, GM will have to do something about it. Well, the carmaker has big plans with the “Our electric future is now” motto. The bad thing is that from all the announcements, we see no Equinox name. The compact crossover segment is perfect for such experiments, and General Motors is a step behind the competition.
The RS trim is the highlight of the lineup. It is a new package. Eventual hybrid or all-electric versions can cause more changes. Currently, Premier is the most luxurious trim. The Redline bundle is a cool upgrade. A 1.5-liter turbo-four is certain for now. Nevertheless, the compact crossover must get any kind of optional engine. Again, there are several options available and possible.
2023 Chevy Equinox Specs, Hybrid
A 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine is the main choice for the 2023 Chevy Equinox. It is delivering 170 hp and 203 lb-ft of torque. Fans expected to see more power coming from a turbo unit. But, engineers left it at the same level as before. The engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and sends power to front wheels. Again, no changes in this system as well. All-wheel drive is optional. Both modes are tuned to tow 1,500 pounds. Start/stop system will save some fuel, but it can become annoying. Switching off is a solution.
Previously, a 2.0-liter turbo engine was available with 250 horsepower. There is no explanation why the GM discontinued this unit, which raised the performance level of the previous Equinox. We can take it as the room making for the 2023 Chevy Equinox Hybrid. But, while we can find rumors about other companies taking this path, there are no any signs that Chevrolet is interested in Equinox hybrid. Instead, an all-electric mill might be an alternative. Of all those possibilities, we believe the return of the 2.0 mill is the most probable, while in the future, the Equinox EV is likely to happen, but not in 2023.

2023 Chevy Equinox Packages
A 2.0-liter engine was optional on high-end trim levels. So, it doesn’t bring some special package for buyers looking for improved specs. So, the offer is going to start with the 2023 Chevy Equinox LS. The entry-level model brings basic stuff, such as 17-inch wheels, LED headlights, and a 7-inch touchscreen as the center of the infotainment system. It includes six-speaker audio and wireless smartphone integration, both for Android and iOS. There are a lot of driver aid features. The Convenience bundle is optional and adds a power-adjustable captain’s bucket, rear privacy glass, and enhanced info display.
This package is included in the LT model. Buyers can recognize the upper trim thanks to chromed details on the exterior. Inside, sun visors are included, as well as the satellite radio. Optional upgrades are Confidence and Infotainment packages. The first one brings dual-zone climate control, leather steering wheel, and heated front seats. Power liftgate is there as well. Parking sensors and blind-spot monitors make the order pretty valuable. The infotainment bundle comes with a larger screen, navigation, rear-view camera, and heated steering wheel.
The 2023 Chevy Equinox RS is the new version. The highlight is a sporty look. Black wheels are 19-inchers. Red stitches inside the cockpit are the eye-catching details contrasting the black upholstery. The shift knob is also specially made for the RS package. A power liftgate and roof rails are added. You can also add a package that brings leather upholstery and Bose audio.
The top of the class model is the Equinox Premier and it uses 18-inch wheels, a hands-free power liftgate, ambient lighting, 8-inch screen, backup camera with more options, and leather upholstery is standard. Additionally, Confidence & Convenience II package is available with a heated steering wheel and rear seats, while the front row is ventilated. Adaptive cruise control is not at the same level as the Super Cruise system, but it is pretty helpful. The second grade of the Infotainment package brings more speakers to the Bose sound and the navigation.
Prices
New engines and upgrades will modify the price of models available with those options. Meanwhile, the existing lineup stays put. That means the MSRP of the 2023 Chevy Equinox starts at $26,000 and the LT might be the best option for just $1,000 more. RS and Premier are above $30,000. With a lack of performance model, there are no pricey options in the lineup.
