The big electrification is taking place in the General Motors’ plants. The company was a step behind the competition in a hybrid segment. Now, the GM is about to make it up by delivering a few interesting electric vehicles. The first models that will roll out of the production lanes are the Chevy Bolt subcompact crossover and GMC Hummer truck. After that, another concept will turn into the production model – the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq. Then, we will also see Hummer electric SUV and Buick EV.
The Lyriq platform is the oldest one. Well, every year, we can see dozens of new concepts and not too many of those end up at dealerships. But, this one is different. Experts were suspicious, but the arrival of the 2023 Lyriq became more likely when the company launched a new campaign “Our electric future is now”. General Motors means business since $35 billion will be invested in this segment over the next 3 years. In ten years, all the GM vehicles will have electric powertrain and zero emission.
Well, the plan is big and the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq is one of the pioneers. A few things are certain about the upcoming SUV. It will be a luxurious model since it belongs to the Cadillac family. The electric range is still a mystery, but there are some indications about drivetrains. And finally, the autonomous drive is going to be even better than the already impressive Super Cruise system General Motors is using in their vehicles.
2023 Cadillac Lyriq Range and Recharge Time
The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq is going to get a battery mounted to the rear axle. The electric motor will be good for 340 hp and 300 miles of range. It seems a lot and experts didn’t expect to see the SUV with so many miles. Well, the company could add another option as the entry-level version. On the other hand, we assume that a more powerful battery pack could be added as well, with an extended range. The rear-wheel drive is standard and the AWD will probably be optional.
Engineers are still working on the recharging system. The fastest way to restore the battery is with speed chargers that can charge nearly 200 miles in 30 minutes. 10 minutes on such outlets can give you 75 miles of drive. Standard home outlets are the slowest way to recharge the car battery.
The electric SUV is going to be packed with a lot of advanced systems, not only the drivetrain. The first thing we think about is the autonomous drive. Currently, Tesla is delivering the Level 2+, and it is the best self-driving package in the market. Some other manufacturers announced the development of Level 4, but it seems to be far-fetched for now. Super Cruise by General Motors is one of the best systems you can get and it is available on premium vehicles. The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq will definitely get the best version with lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, self-parking option, and more.
The base package includes 20-inch wheels with a 6-spoke design. The SUV is just two inches shorter than the XT6. That promises a lot of room inside the cockpit. Lyriq will be a two-seat vehicle. The exterior highlight is the front fascia. The exceptional grille features more than 700 LED lamps. The OLED screen is a masterpiece of technology. Plus, AKG provides the cabin with a state-of-art sound which includes speakers integrated into headrests. A smartphone app will also help you with a lot of other commands on your Lyriq.
Release Date and Prices
General Motors is going to start producing Hummer trucks first, and the next electric vehicle to be built is the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq. One of the best things about the SUV is its price. Bosses promised that the base version is going to cost $60,000, which is not bad having in mind this is a premium vehicle with advanced technology. General Motors will probably produce a cheaper version with the GMC or Chevy badge. Still, high-end models of the Lyriq will end up a lot higher. Complete and precise pricing will be available once the SUV hits dealerships. We expect that to happen in the second half of 2022. For now, only pre-orders are available on the official website.
