It seems like the 2023 BMW X6 is not going through the first redesign, although experts believed the coupe SUV could introduce a larger potion of changes. The current generation was launched in 2020. Meanwhile, the company changed some things. Every season, the X6 added some updates. But, the big facelift is prolonged.

Like for the previous two seasons, the SUV comes with minor modifications. First, we will follow details about trim levels. The sDrive RWD is no longer available in the US. All models come with the famous xDrive. Packages remain the same, with the 2023 BMW X6M sitting at the top of the lineup. The performance-oriented model delivers a massive amount of power. Everything is followed with a more aggressive styling and luxurious interior.

The upcoming X6 carries over other engines for lower trims. But, some options will be reshuffled. This SUV is the flagship model. Fans expect novelties. The X6 could deliver new color choices, as well as new technologies. For example, a higher level of autonomous driving might be interesting to see.

2023 BMW X6 vs X5

The X5 is an older brother and the model that is always a step ahead of the X6. Without big changes on it, we don’t think the coupe SUV can be the first to introduce novelties. The main difference between the 2023 BMW X6 and the X5 is in the styling. The X6 adopts a coupe SUV roofline. It looks more aggressive but harms the interior space. Similar options are available, but there are also some differences. For example, the company deleted fog lights and wireless smartphone charging from the new X5. We expect the same to happen on the X6. There are even small differences in color options. For now, the classic SUV offers two more paintjobs. The 2023 X6 is going to make it up to its fans.

Everything You Need to Know About 2023 BMW X5

Powertrains and Specs

The 2023 BMW X6 will keep it running simply. A six-cylinder engine will be an entry-level version, which can be upgraded to the V8. A high-end X6M comes with an enhanced system that can crack 600 horsepower. The latest 2024 X5, for example, added a plug-in hybrid model, based on the I6 engine. The coupe SUV is not bringing this one. For the future, an all-electric iX5 is also in the plans. We can’t say it for the iX6.

The base configuration is going to include a 3.0-liter drivetrain, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and an all-wheel drive. The system delivers 335 hp and 330 lb-ft of torque. A small electric motor improves the gas mileage, and the X6 can return 21/26 mpg.

The 2023 BMW X6 M50i is replacing an I6 with a V8. A 4.4-liter displacement features a twin-turbo system and cracks 523 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. There is a huge gap between the two models, so some believe the PHEV is possible to patch the hole. Again, an 8-pace gearbox and xDrive are there.

2023 BMW X6 M Specs and Performance

The most impressive member of the lineup is the 2023 BMW X6 M. The SUV draws attention with its styling, and this model does it with its performance as well. Engineers squeezed 600 horsepower from the same engine we see on the M50i.

You will recognize this version thanks to the badging, of course. Plus, there are 21-inch wheels. Paddle shifters are added, as well as launch control for the best start. Everything on the M model is performance-tuned, including brakes, suspension, and steering. Compared to the regular model, the 2023 BMW X6M also adds a panoramic sunroof, a power liftgate, premium leather, and four-zone climate control.

One of the most impressive optional upgrades is the Competition package. The engine is enhanced to deliver 617 hp. Additional power improves the 0-60 mph acceleration time to 3.5 seconds. The rear wheels are 22-inches. The bundle also brings a sport exhaust setup. Plus, several details will make it a bit different from the standard X6M. Other optional packages for the M version are Executive, Driving Assistance Professional, or M Driver’s trim.

When Will the 2023 BMW X6 Be Available?

The company is going to launch the SUV very soon. Since the 2023 BMW X6 doesn’t bring too many changes, there is no reason for waiting. We assume fans will be eligible to purchase the X6 starting with the final quarter of 2022.

Pricing

The base price of the 2023 BMW X6 is getting a boost. Have in mind that the entry offer of $70,000 includes a six-cylinder engine. To get a V8, you must pay at least $20,000 more. The M is a premium configuration. This model breaches the 600 hp mark, as well as the $110k price tag. The Competition package adds $23,000 and there are also a few other optional bundles that can push the X6’s cost over $140k.
