Mazda probably picked the worst time to launch the new vehicle. The CX-30 was a good idea, but the COVID-19 outburst was something no one could predict. Well, the Japanese carmaker is not the only one that takes the damage. On the other hand, the vehicle had some time to show off. Still fresh, we are not expecting huge novelties on the 2022 Mazda CX-30. Styling and existing drivetrains will be back. The electric SUV is available in few markets as the MX-30. It could be part of the lineup of CX-30 in the US in 2022.
The turbocharged engine drew the most attention. Well, the small crossover with 225 horsepower is definitely worth checking. The first impressions are very positive and we believe that Mazda is working on solving all the issues. Well, the subcompact vehicle cannot offer plenty of space at the back. On the other hand, the entry-level model could be packed with more features. Optional packages such (Select, Premium, Preferred) are increasing the price rapidly. The infotainment system needs a revisit, as soon as possible.

With the 2022 Mazda CX-30, you are getting the premium interior, although the price is not sending the crossover to the luxury class. Driver-assist features are cool, but the system sometimes takes too long to memorize. Driving Mazda is something special, thanks to the Skyactiv technology. Finally, the styling is definitely one of the most recognizable in the world.
2022 Mazda CX-30 Specs
Under the hood of the subcompact crossover lays a 2.5-liter engine. Comparing to competitors, it is larger than expected, and also more powerful. The four-pot drivetrain is capable to deliver 185 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed auto gearbox sends power to front wheels. The gas mileage in the city is 25 mpg, while on the highway the CX-30 returns 33 miles per gallon. All-wheel drive is optional and consumes more gas (24/31 mpg).
The 2022 Mazda CX-30 Turbo will bring the ride to a new dimension. There are no too many subcompact crossovers in the market with 227 horsepower available. You can make it to 250 ponies if using premium fuel. Torque is at 310 pound-feet (+10 lb-ft with 93-octane gas). The CX-30 Turbo is mated to an all-wheel drive only, through a six-pace transmission. The gas mileage is not bad. On highway, you can achieve 30 mpg.
2022 Mazda CX-30 Packages (Preferred, Select, Premium)
Like every Mazda vehicle, the crossover is also coming with a bag full of cool features. Even the base version is using LED head- and taillights. Rain-sensitive vipers and 16-inch wheels are standard. Inside, you will find an 8.8-inch screen. It is not too big for such a small cockpit. The CX-30 Select upgrades the existing offer with a dual-zone climate. Also, the upholstery quality is on the higher level, while a blind-spot monitor is added to the safety system. Larger wheels will make this model recognizable from the outside.
The 2022 Mazda CX-30 Preferred is also using 18-inch rims. It also adds the memory seat settings and adjustable driver’s bucket. The front row is heated. The highlight is definitely a power sunroof. The 2022 CX-30 Premium is coming with a full-leather upholstery, HUD, and Bose surround sound. Outside, roof rails will be standard. The power tailgate eases access to the cargo area. Turbo engine is available with this trim. But, it also comes in one special version – the 2022 Mazda CX-30 Premium Plus. Paddle shifters, traffic-sign recognition system, and navigation are added. You will also find auto braking, even when driving reverse, and surround-view when parking. Assist steering is available for speeds under 40 mph with the Traffic Jam package.
Release Date and Price
Without too many changes, the subcompact crossover is not going to lure too many new buyers. The price should stay put at $22,000. Select package adds $2,000 and the Preferred is available if you invest another $2,500. The Premium trim is the most expensive, starting just under $29,000. If you add a turbo engine, the same package will cost you $1,000 more, or $3,000 if you opt for the Premium Plus.
A lot of things will also depend on the electric crossover. The MX-30 is already available for pre-order in the UK. Soon, Mazda will make a debut in the North American electric vehicles world. For now, even the MHEV system is not available. It is based on a 2.0 Skyactiv-X system. Well, there are no configurations using a diesel unit. If the carmaker decides to present the CX-30 as an electric vehicle, then the debut will be more important. Unchanged, the 2022 Mazda CX-30 is going out in the second half of 2021.
