2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk and Trackhawk Hellcat

It is hard to say which is a more important model in Jeep’s lineup – Grand Cherokee or Wrangler. Each SUV covers a different market. But, when you have a monster engine under the hood that delivers 707 horsepower, you will definitely draw more attention. That is the famous Trackhawk edition. Do not mix it up with Trailhawk, available on Wrangler. Grand Cherokee became a three-row SUV, finally. This version adds the L badge next to the name. The next move is to revisit the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk lineup.

It won’t make the SUV more powerful, though. The new Durango SRT Hellcat is the new most powerful model in the market with 710 horsepower coming from its configuration. Engineers downtuned the output for Ram 1500 TRX Hellcattruck. Interesting, all of these vehicles wear the same badge, indicating the performance edition. But, another 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is going to join the lineup.

SRT is Becoming Trackhawk

The SRT badge is reserved for Dodge vehicles. Well, Ram and Dodge are sometimes used together, but this is something about the exclusivity. The Grand Cherokee has two performance editions. The SRT is using a 6.4-liter V8 engine with 475 hp, while the Trackhawk is there with a 6.2-liter supercharged drivetrain. Both of them are going to be renamed.

The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk will succeed the SRT model. Starting next season, the badge will be exclusive for Dodge vehicles. Grand Cherokee was the only model using these three letters. And the mighty V8 is still going to be part of the lineup. You will find it as the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk Hellcat. So, the nomenclature is the same as for the Dodge Durango. Performance version with a 6.4-liter Hemi engine will be called SRT / Trackhawk, while these models wearing a supercharged engine will add Hellcat next to these trims.

2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk Specifications

There are two of them, but it will be hard to explain to fans that their 2022 Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is delivering ‘just’ 475 hp. The Hellcat version is the highlight of the entire lineup, and Jeep offers more trim levels than ever. The SUV comes in seven different configurations. We don’t count the X or L packages that can be added to some of the versions.

So, the Hellcat engine is good for 707 horsepower. It is a 6.2-liter displacement. The package includes superchargers and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The power is sent to all wheels. The high-performance SUV can sprint 0-60 mph in just 3.5 seconds. The fuel economy is not in the focus when buying this mighty ride.

On the other hand, the new ‘base’ 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk will be good for 475 hp and 470 lb-ft. We’ve heard that FCA is preparing changes for the 6.4-liter V8 model, but most experts assumed the outputs are getting a boost. Instead, the reshuffle of trim levels should refresh the interest in the mid-size SUV. The acceleration 0-60 mph takes less than a second more than the Hellcat engine. But, when it drops under 4.5, every moment is big. The max speed of the new entry-level Trackhawk will be 160 mph.

2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk Hennessey

The famous aftermarket company, Hennessey, didn’t miss the opportunity to make the mighty SUV even more potent. After their tuning, the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is good for 912 and 1012 horsepower. The HPE900 will also add 875 lb-ft of torque for the max performance. If you select the HPE1000, you are getting 100 pound-feet more, which makes 0-60 time dropping to 2.6 seconds, while quarter-mile run lasts 10.2 sec. There are numerous other upgrades to keep the SUV on the ground. Of course, most of those are related to the drive system. Still, a few cosmetic touches will make the Hennessey Performance model recognizable.

Price and Release Date

The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk will be again the most expensive version in the lineup. Well, this time in the plural. The standard edition with a larger, naturally-aspirated engine is going to cost $65,000, while the mighty Hellcat badge raises the bar to $80,000. You can still add a few more things to enhance outputs. One of the options non-eligible for this version is a three-row package. The reshuffle of trim levels will happen when the new Grand Cherokee hits dealerships, probably this summer.
