The 2022 Buick Envision is going to be a pretty comfortable vehicle. It is not at the level of luxury as the Caddie vehicles, but the interior is upscaled compared to Chevrolet and GMC models. The cabin is quiet and the noise stays out thanks to the cancellation system. Seats are getting better with every upper trim level by offering more options, such as heating, ventilating, memory settings, and of course, power adjusting. We don’t have to mention that Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, while the Amazon Alexa is another option that can be obtained. If you are looking for more luxury, then the Avenir trim is the best choice. Air quality is on the new level with an ionizer installed on higher trim levels.
As a compact crossover, you cannot expect exceptional towing capacity results. The reason might also be a single-engine choice under the hood. The new 2022 Buick Envision might get another option, a hybrid for example. It would fix another downside of the crossover – poor gas mileage. Compared to other compact vehicles, Envision can do only 24/31 mpg and drops to 22/29 with all-wheel drive.
2022 Buick Envision Might Get a Hybrid Engine
Let’s start with the current option. That is a 2.0-liter turbo-four. The same configuration is available for other compact crossovers coming out from GM’s plants. We already mentioned them. The powertrain is good for 230 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. It is above the average for this class. A nine-speed transmission distributes the power to front wheels by default, while an AWD remains optional. The gas mileage drops significantly when both axles are making the Envision move around. But, you are getting better traction, which will be appreciated off the road.
The 2022 Buick Envision hybrid is a missing part of the lineup. Most of its rivals are available with such an engine, while the GM models are falling behind. Well, the company is about to change the image. A few all-electric units are already announced. Hybrid units are also under development and the first systems will be introduced in 2022. Envision is one of the favorites to get the additional options. Buick is also in the EV game with the Enspire concept being a platform that will underpin future electric vehicles by this manufacturer.
Which Package to Choose?
Preferred and Essence were a couple of trim levels available for the Envision when the crossover entered the second generation a few years ago. Now, there is a third member of the lineup, the 2022 Buick Envision Avenir. It is the top of the class version with perforated leather, premium Bose audio system, HUD, heated and ventilated seats. Driver’s bucket is even offering a massaging function. The company added some memory to the infotainment system storage. Outside, you will spot 20-inch wheels. Drivers can rely on the park assist since sensors are at both ends. One of the surprises is leaving an AWD as the optional feature.
If you are not willing to spend $40k on the compact crossover, then the mid-range version is offering an upholstery of the same quality. The center of the infotainment system is a 10-inch screen. Front seats are only heated, not ventilated, and buckets feature power adjusting. Power liftgate simplifies the access to the storage area. Smaller wheels are used for the Essence. The base model, Preferred, comes with 17-inchers. The base offer includes an eight-inch screen, cloth seats, and lane-keep assist. The 2022 Buick Envision makes the main smartphone connection services available even at the base trim. Interesting, all-wheel drive is optional for all configurations.
2022 Buick Envision Prices
We are waiting for the 2022 Buick Envision Hybrid to see what will be the new price for the crossover. Other versions will stay put. That means the MSRP starts from $32,000. That positions the crossover somewhere between the standard and the premium segment. The Essence package will cost you $4,000, while the Avenir starts above $40,000. For all of them, you will have to pay less than two grands for all-wheel drive. A hybrid configuration is probably coming later this year. The company will prepare new packages, or the offer will start from the Essence.
