If you are a fan of this SUV and the current situation is frightening you because of more reasons, the release date of the 2021 Range Rover Sport is not going to be one of them. The carmaker is already considering which dates could be suitable for the debut.
The NY car show is moved for October, and there is the LA show also before we close this year. What’s more, the luxury SUV could also debut in Europe, where its popularity is also climbing. So, we won’t be surprised if the Range Rover Sport shows up in the Old Continent first. Still, the precise date is not set yet.
Drivetrains and Packages
Well, every season the JLR brings something new for its engine room. After a debut of a PHEV system, we saw a pair of inline-six units this season. What’s coming for the 2021 Range Rover Sport – we will find out soon. Even without upgrades, the lineup is more than stunning. The least capable unit is a 3.0 turbo I6 with 355 hp and 365 lb-ft of torque. SE and HSE trim levels will use this configuration. Well, we cannot say the drivetrain is not powerful, but it lacks 40 ponies compared to the HST setup. Besides that, the P400 also comes with 406 lb-ft of torque. All Range Rover Sport setups will use an all-wheel drive, including a diesel one.
If you are after a different source of power, a 3.0-liter turbodiesel is able to create 255 hp and 445 lb-ft of torque. It is more efficient than petrol engines with 25 mpg combined. The base SE and HSE packages are available for this type of engine. The 2021 Range Rover Sport continues with the PHEV hybrid system. This configuration combines a 2.0-liter displacement with a powerful electric motor. United, two sources of power create 400 hp and 472 lb-ft of twist. Still, the fuel economy is not gaining extra value.

That’s not all for the midsize SUV. The luxury model gets over 500 ponies thanks to the V8 unit. A 5.0-liter displacement is supercharged for the P525 and Autobiography versions. Such setup is good for 520 horsepower. With 17/22 mpg, we can say it is not consuming too much fuel.
If you want more juice, then the 2021 Range Rover Sport SVR tops all the charts. With 575 hp and 515 lb-ft, it is one of the most powerful units in the market. Too bad since it is also the most expensive, getting into the six-digit price realm. Even the base SE version has a hefty price of nearly $70,000.
