Tucson’s selling record is increasing every season. Not only in the US, but the model is very popular in the rest of the world. Until 2015 you could find it as Hyundai ix35 in some countries. Now, Tucson is becoming an important figure in the major market – the United States. Last year, the company sold nearly 150k units. This season the crossover got a facelift. The next update is scheduled for 2021. It will be much larger than a simple facelift. A new generation is also an option.

Under the hood of the 2021 Hyundai Tucson, we will find a couple of four-cylinder drivetrains. The rest of the world is offering various other options, from smaller petrol unit to diesel engines. The R Line is the most popular model outside the US and it comes with a 2.0-liter CRDi mill.

2021 Hyundai Tucson Redesign and Spy Photos

Hyundai is on the streets with the new compact crossover. Since the version for 2019 suffered a facelift, the next edition will be here as 2021 YM. Well, we believe the company is not going to delay the premiere since the compact crossover market is the toughest one. However, the Korean company is ready for challenges and they already have proven their worth.

Spy photos are not too generous with details. Heavy camouflage is covering most of the body. However, through the front fascia covers, we can see some interesting changes on the grille. Well, the production model is definitely changing the nose, but details are unavailable yet. On some spy shots, we can see split headlights. The grille seems to be larger. The overall dimensions of the 2021 Hyundai Tucson remain the same, so we can see cargo volume staying put.

What is 2021 Hyundai Tucson N?

If you are looking for a more aggressive version of the crossover, then 2021 Hyundai Tucson N Performance is waiting. After the success of i30 N model, the crossover SUV was the next in the line to get similar upgrades. Well, you are not getting a performance-tuned version that delivers a crazy amount of power. However, the styling and specs updates will make it more attractive.

First of all, there is a new suspension configuration will provide a smoother ride. The i30 fastback came with a way better cornering performance. Stiffer springs are providing more precise steering. Inside the cabin, everything is sportier. There will be also a new driver aid software and few other upgrades around the cockpit.

Engines

Under the bonnet of the 2021 Hyundai Tucson is a 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated motor that is capable to produce 165 hp and 150 lb-ft of torque. These are fair outputs for the compact class. A six-speed automatic transmission routes the power to front wheels. Besides this one, the new Tucson is offering an all-wheel drive model with 50/50 torque split for both axles.

The gas mileage is not spectacular. The crossover returns 22/30 mpg. The bigger problem is the fuel consumption of the all-wheel drive system. On the highway it brings only 25 mpg, which is a huge blow compared the standard configuration. The difference is not so big for the 2.4-liter unit that returns 28 mpg with FWD and 26 mpg with AWD. The larger drivetrain is producing 180 hp and 175 lb-ft of torque. The same transmission and drive modes are available for this unit.

Hybrid

One of the key upgrades we expect from the upcoming crossover is a hybrid engine. We can hear that Hyundai is developing systems that will be able to compete with the Toyota Rav4 and Nissan Rogue. Of course, Tucson, as its best-seller, is the priority in the hybridization process. It is early to have any details, but we expect the company to announce this drivetrain soon.

2021 Hyundai Tucson Colors

The leading Korean carmaker made a strong impact on the market when it launched the latest version of its crossover. Its colors were one of the highlights. Gemstone Red is definitely the most eye-catching paintjob. It also offers two interior schemes as well. The next update will add at least two more exterior and the same number of interior colors. Grey, black, and beige are the current lineup, and buyers can choose between cloth and leather upholstery.

Release Date, Price

The new 2021 Hyundai Tucson is not coming out any time soon. Well, spy photos are confirming that the new version is on the way and the crossover is bringing interesting changes. The price is also going to be updated. Currently, buyers in the US can purchase Tucson for $24,000. The MSRP will be closer to $25k after updates. The Ultimate trim level remains the top of the line offer. Also, SEL, Sport, and Limited can offer interesting upgrades. The company didn’t give clues about the cost of the 2021 Hyundai Tucson N model.
