The next-gen 2021 Chevy Suburban is going to debut at Detroit Auto Show. It will be the first time this happening is being held in summer. It will allow companies to show off skills of their vehicles outdoor. Well, the new Suburban will have something to unveil, especially with the new independent rear suspension system.
We are listening for a while that the new generation of the full-size SUV is on the way. Fans expected to see it as the 2020 YM, but the GM prolonged the release date for 2021 season. Well, spy photos are unveiling the new IRS system, which will boost driving impression and off-road capabilities. Also, the concept is going to be ready to involve diesel engine. Independent rear suspension in combination with this engine could make a serious impact on the off-road market. Currently, Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro is dominating there. But, with the arrival of the new Tahoe/Suburban and Ford Bronco, the situation could change.
2021 Chevy Suburban Redesign Details
As every new generation, the full-size SUV will suffer a lot of changes. Suburban is one of the longest-serving vehicles in the automotive industry. Under the hood of the 2021 Chevy Suburban will be the largest petrol unit GM has to offer. A 6.2-liter V8 drivetrain is a power source for the largest vehicles. The extended SUV will get 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. We believe the company will replace a six-speed automatic transmission either with the new nine-pace gearbox, or an eight-speed case, available for Yukon Denali. The rear-wheel drive remains the standard configuration. Buyers can optionally choose a power distribution to all four corners.
The new independent rear suspension will improve the driving impression. With the AWD you will get a great traction, best for off-road adventures. Still, the RWD is also offering superb handling for the vehicle of its size.
2021 Suburban Diesel
One of the most interesting rumors is about the 2021 Chevy Suburban Diesel version. The SUV would borrow the drivetrain from the Silverado 1500 truck. This is not the first time we see this since FCA did the same with Jeep Grand Cherokee and Ram 1500.
A 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 is going to deliver over 450 lb-ft of torque and boost the towing capacity to 11,000 pounds. Besides that, the new suspension, in combination with a diesel unit will make most obstacles seem funny for Suburban’s drivers. Well, the downsides of this engine are increased emissions and higher maintenance cost.
Interior and High Country Model
The new 2021 Chevy Suburban will feature High Country trim level. Its smaller sibling, Tahoe SUV, was spied with such equipment. There are no doubts this is going to be the new top of the class version. Of course, High Country is also the most expensive model.
Still, the base LS trim comes with a lot of standard accessories. With seating for nine persons in three rows, this is a perfect vehicle for larger families. An eight-inch infotainment screen sits at the center of the dashboard. Three-zone climate control and plenty of safety features are available already at the entry-level model.
Definitely, the 2021 Suburban high Country will draw the most interest. An SUV with unique grille finishes and 20-inch wheels is eye-catching and prestigious. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on this trim, as well as the Bose audio. You can opt for the captain’s chairs and the seating capacity could drop to seven or eight. Although redesigned, the new Suburban will offer more than 120 cubic feet of cargo space with second and third rows folded down.
2021 Chevy Suburban Release Date and Price
