The expansion of the Cadillac SUV lineup goes in both ways. Well, the Escalade is untouchable in the full-size segment. However, the success of the XT5 made a way for other XT models. Now, we have larger and smaller units, XT4 and XT6. The next one should be the 2020 Cadillac XT7. This is a concept similar to BMW’s. According to rumors, the upcoming SUV is going to be a coupe-like. We also expect the premium vehicle to get a more powerful engine than its sibling. The possible hybrid drivetrain would definitely be a hit.
The XT6 is a three-row mid-size SUV. The new 2020 Cadillac XT7 will cut the rear seats to make the exterior look more aggressive. This way, the carmaker will challenge its archrival, Lincoln and its Aviator. These companies are the premium brands of the two companies whose rivalry is the biggest in the automotive industry. Cadillac is part of General Motors’ family, while Lincoln is Ford’s luxury department. One thing is sure, the new XT7 is not going to lack any modern feature. The premium carmaker is definitely up to something. This move is logical. The SUV range is growing and only the most consistent companies can survive. Specs
GM has plenty of options for the new 2020 Cadillac XT7. The first drivetrain coming to our mind is the same one the XT5 is using. A 3.6-l V6 is perfect for the mid-size SUV. It produces 310 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. For this class, these are competitive outputs. But, if the XT7 wants to take on the BMW X6 and its M version, it will need a boost. However, we would rather say the eight-cylinder drivetrains are there to jump in if the SUV needs more power. Chevrolet can go either with 5.3-liter or 6.2-l displacement. A 4.3-l V8 is not an option. The smaller one is delivering 355 hp and 385 lb-ft of torque. The bigger unit upgrades these numbers to 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet. All drivetrains are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and come with either 2WD or 4WD.
Diesel and Hybrid News
This is not a question regarding only the 2020 Cadillac XT7. Many other vehicles in the GM family are expecting hybridization. The company needs to make some moves soon. Competition is giving no chill, and the Lexus RX is the most popular vehicle in the segment mostly because of this option. The new Mercedes GLE is also using hybrid technology for better performance.
On the other hand, a turbodiesel Duramax engine is not likely to happen. General Motors did launch it recently, but don’t expect it to appear in many other vehicles besides Silverado 1500 truck. Anyway, a 3.0-liter V6 powertrain is making 280 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. That fits perfectly to the new SUV.

Some fans claim they saw the test mules, but the spy photos are missing. Until we see the images, everything about the 2020 Cadillac XT7 will remain speculations. The interior is going to find inspiration in the XT6. However, the new SUV is not going to keep the three-row layout. Thanks to the sportier look and sloped roof, passengers wouldn’t have enough headroom. The XT7 will bring the latest infotainment features and options, which will also increase the price of the vehicle.
2020 Cadillac XT7 Price and Release Date
It is impossible to predict the price of the new SUV. Definitely, it will be more expensive than XT6, but cheaper than Escalade. However, the precise cost will depend on drivetrains, and we still don’t know which are options. In 2020 we will know more about the upcoming SUV.
