2206 0

As we are approaching the new season, let’s check out which are the best 2020 Luxury SUVs. The level of equipment for these vehicles is above average, and we will try to make the list of the most popular vehicles and these SUVs with significant changes.

Buyers are not saving to spend extra money on these models. You can purchase a regular, non-premium SUV with extra equipment. Still, the luxury class is more of a status symbol. It is not the same if you are driving the Ford Excursion with the highest level of equipment, or the Lincoln Navigator, its luxury sibling. But, let’s start with the compact class first.

Best Luxury SUVs for 2020

COMPACT LUXURY CROSSOVER SUVs

When you are buying a luxury brand, savings are not the priority. Still, the compact crossovers have other advantages, besides the fuel economy. Well, most of these models in the premium segment are getting turbocharged units. But, the compact vehicles are easier to maneuver, and the parking is like a breeze.

2020 Audi Q5

Q5 is one of the pioneers in the segment. The crossover SUV was there when SUVs become to raise. Now, there is more competition, but the German carmaker is maintaining its reputation. For the upcoming season, we will see cosmetic changes. The company was focused more on the premiere of the new Q8. Well, the compact model was updated for 2018, so the first update is due for 2021 or 2022.

2020 BMW X3

Another German luxury crossover that ranks pretty high on the market. Like its biggest rival, Audi Q5, the BMW X3 was updated for the 2018 season. It arrives for the new season without significant cosmetic modifications. On the other hand, changes under the hood are more than interesting. The 2020 BMW X3 is getting an all-electric battery and the range of 250 miles. The release date is not unveiled yet, but the new iX3 will come somewhere in 2020. BMW sets up the challenge to its rivals.

2020 Mercedes GLC

The compact 2020 Mercedes GLC Class is going through a facelift. The third German carmaker is introducing the new lineup of engines for the fresh model. A base drivetrain is a 2.0-liter unit, which will be capable to produce between 200 and 260 hp. With the help of an electric battery, it reaches 320 horsepower. Other possible engines are a 3.0 V6 and a 4.0-l V8 for the top of the class AMG versions. In other parts of the world, the 2020 Mercedes GLC will be available with a 2.0-liter diesel unit (160-240 hp and 265-370 lb-ft).

HERE is an official update on the GLC SUV

2020 Lexus NX 300

Lexus is one of the leading carmakers in the US. The level of luxury in their vehicles is still a challenge for most other companies. The new 2020 Lexus NX 300 is coming unchanged for the new season since the company was focused on some other arrivals (you will read later about LX and RX updates).

Still, one change is mutual for all Lexus vehicles. Toyota, the parent company, is now offering an Android Auto feature. It is going to be part of the big infotainment upgrade for all Toyota and Lexus lineup. The hybrid powertrain will see some updates in 2021.

2020 Cadillac XT5

Another relatively fresh model that doesn’t require big updates is arriving as the 2020 Cadillac XT5. GM’s luxury division is changing a couple of things on the interior and exterior. Under the hood is the same drivetrain as before. Unfortunately, the XT5 is not getting a hybrid engine, which makes its chances slightly worse than before. Still, since its arrival, the Cadillac brand revived and the company launched another SUV for this lineup.

2020 Lincoln Corsair

The rivalry between GM and Ford is present in probably all automotive classes. The Blue Oval company decided to rename its MK- crossovers and SUVs. Now, we have the 2020 Lincoln Corsair instead of MKC. This is not just a nameplate change, but the luxury crossover comes with new technologies and equipment. Still, engines are the same, while the Corsair is getting a new eight-speed transmission, which replaces a six-pace gearbox.

2020 Acura RDX

With the new generation launched this year, there is no need for changes on the 2020 Acura RDX. The company could bring the Type S performance model, but this is just a rumor. RDX is pretty capable of towing, with capacity over 4,000 pounds coming from a turbo-four 2.0-liter displacement. The first impressions about the new model brought complains about the 10-speed transmission. This could be the part that requires a revisit for the new season.

2020 Infiniti QX50

The 2020 Infiniti QX50 is going through a mid-cycle update. The crossover is going to get some significant updates and the major addition is a performance model. The technology also gets thumbs up, with Bose audio, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and many other features coming as standard. ProPilot could soon get to the Level 4 autonomous drive. Still, for the 2020 season, this technology is not yet available.

2020 Volvo XC60

The first revisit of Volvo’s compact crossover brings a 12-inch screen right to the center of a dashboard. A larger battery pack for a hybrid model will provide a better fuel economy. The Swedish company is also well known for its elegance and premium touches. At the top of the lineup, we will find Nappa leather, special wheels, and incredible safety options. The carmaker also adds the new Polestar model, which will make the compact crossover very expensive, available at $70,000.

2020 Jaguar F-Pace

The 2020 Jaguar F-Pace is mostly unchanged. The company adds two new models to the lineup. Buyers can purchase Checkered Flag Special Edition or the 300 Sport. Besides the new vehicles, we can find Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in all trims. Engines and transmissions are the same, while the F-Pace crossover is waiting for the big update in 2021 or 2022.

2020 Jaguar I-Pace

So, the British company is out in the market with two compact crossovers. However, the differences between them are making them equally attractive. Well, the 2020 Jaguar I-Pace could be even more interesting. This is an all-electric crossover with a range of nearly 300 miles.

Well, there are also differences in design and technology. All these upgrades are making the 2020 Jaguar I-Pace more expensive than its sibling. The price of $70k tells a lot of the electric model.

2020 Tesla Model Y

As a leader in the electric segment, Tesla needs to respond to the challenge by Jaguar. Still, the 2020 Tesla Model Y will be the cheaper version of the Model X. Compact crossover will still have space for seven seats, and its price starts at $48,000. Models with extended range reach $61,000. The new Model Y will be able to go between 230 and 300 miles in a single charge. Some of the models are arriving in 2021.

MID-SIZE LUXURY SUVs

This is the class that offers the best combination of performance and price. Not as expensive and big like full-size models, but still very powerful and usually come with three rows of seats. If you love long trips, it is always better to pick some of the mid-size SUVs, rather than a compact vehicle.

2020 Lexus RX 350

This is the best-selling luxury SUV. The RX is a versatile SUV that offers plenty of options. The 2020 Lexus RX 350 will keep the base, extended XL, hybrid, and the F Sport model. A reliable 3.5-liter unit can produce 290 hp or up to 310 horsepower with a hybrid system. In the future, we expect the plug-in hybrid system. The RX is a close sibling to the Toyota Highlander, which will bring a lot of changes in 2021. A major update for the luxurious RX 350 is coming right after that.

2020 Volvo XC90

The XC90 is one of the best models in the market, according to many experts. Its drivetrain configurations are based on the same petrol drivetrain. The T8 plug-in hybrid can produce 400 hp and 482 lb-ft of torque, while also offering the range of 15 miles.

For the new season, the 2020 Volvo XC90 will get updates on the front grille, bumper, headlights, and wheels. Upper trim levels will shake things up to create an impression of a larger update. The all-electric XC90 is a model we will see in the near future.

HERE are our latest Volvo news

2020 Cadillac XT6

The 2020 Cadillac XT6 is an all-new model. Based on its famous siblings, Escalade and XT5, the SUV will try its luck in the mid-size class. However, experts are catching some lacks right at the start of XT6’s life. For example, there is no hybrid engine. The SUV comes in two trim levels, Premium Luxury and Sport. GM will probably add more options soon. The price is starting at $54,000 and the XT6 is one of the most expensive models in the segment.

After the XT6, Cadillac is building the XT3

2020 Lincoln Aviator

While the Cadillac is more successful in the compact segment, the 2020 Lincoln Aviator is a winner in the Ford-GM battle in the mid-size segment. Arriving with a powerful engine, some consider the new Aviator as the best model in the class. Well, it is hard to prove those fans wrong. The SUV can produce 90 hp more than XT6 is capable of producing. A powerful hybrid system can tow 6,700 pounds. Black Label is reserved for those buyers willing to spend $85,000 and looking for a unique offer and interior themes.

2020 Range Rover Sport

If you want to choose between a four-cylinder or V8 engine in the same lineup, then the 2020 Range Rover Sport will offer these options. A small petrol displacement is a base for a plug-in hybrid model with extended range. Also, there is a mild-hybrid system available with a V6 engine. Top of the class SUVs are using the supercharged V8 mill and extreme levels of power. Well, the price is prestigious as well, with a $115,000 tag.

2020 Mercedes GLE

Speaking of luxury, the 2020 Mercedes GLE is one of the most expensive models in the class. Well, the SUV is not the best the German company has to offer. Still, the mid-size version offers plenty of options. The base model comes with a price tag under $54,000. The hybrid drivetrain is something new for the upcoming season. This setup is available, as well as the performance-oriented AMG model with 550 horsepower and 515 lb-ft of torque.

2021 BMW X5 xdrive45e

2020 BMW X5

The 2020 BMW X5 is the biggest rival to this offer. The M package is increasing outputs to 567 hp and 553 pounds-feet of torque. A 4.4-liter V8 unit is mated to a special eight-speed transmission. In the future, the iX5 electric model is going to be based on the iNext concept.

However, these are heavily loaded models with some extreme options. The base 2020 BMW X5 costs $60,000. Rear-wheel drive is standard, but everyone will recommend you buying the xDrive AWD version.

2021 BMW X5 Hybrid Arrives in the US Next Year

2020 Acura MDX

The 2020 Acura MDX is coming without a single change. The luxury SUV relies on V6 and hybrid setups. And MDX is doing just fine. More from this lineup is coming in 2021 when the big update is about to completely refresh the SUV.

A notable mention is a hybrid setup. The 2020 Acura MDX will deliver more power than the Lexus RX450h. The A-Spec model is worth of consideration, with sporty upgrades on the body.

FULL-SIZE LUXURY SUVs

A lot of power. A lot of features. High price. You won’t find these under $70,000. Not all the abovementioned companies are present in the full-size segment.

2020 Audi Q8

The 2020 Audi Q8 is a refresh for the lineup. The German carmaker has launched an all-new vehicle for the upcoming season. This is one of the reasons why other models are waiting for their updates. The Q8 is coming with a new styling and a powerful engine. Soon, we could see the performance version, SQ8 or RS Q8.

The starting price for the new SUV is just above $68,000. With additional options, it will jump over $80,000. Audi chiefs might though there will be at least one German rival fewer in this class, but BMW is also making a full-size model.

Q8 won’t be the biggest SUV in the lineup for too long. Find out WHY

2020 BMW X7

Like the Audi, the 2020 BMW X7 is a relatively new model. The Bavarian carmaker launched it earlier in 2019 and for the new season, the SUV is getting a special M treatment. According to rumors, this version will deliver around 600 hp and 600 lb-ft of torque from a 4.4-liter V8 twin-turbo configuration. The X7M will need less than 4.5 seconds for the 0-60 mph acceleration. But, the hefty price is going to be a stumbling block for most buyers. We expect to see a $125,000 price tag on the new SUV.

2020 Mercedes GLS

X7M is not the most expensive and luxurious model by German carmakers. Mercedes is a synonym for premium equipment and options. For the next season, the 2020 Mercedes GLS is going to cost $130,000 if you opt for an AMG 63 model. Still, there are the cheaper options – base and even lighter AMG 53 setup.

However, the Three-Point carmaker delivers one of the most elegant models, outside and inside. Add a hybrid drivetrain and you will see why fans are crazy about it. The carmaker plans to electrify the entire fleet, so even stronger hybrids are in plans for the next few seasons.

Official website is the right place to find out everything about the GLS.

2020 Range Rover

The biggest model in the lineup is equipped with a powerful engine. The European carmakers are competing in luxury. The 2020 Range Rover is something closest to the exotic segment. Still, the base versions are not so expensive. The SVR Autobiography will cost above $200,000.

The new engine is the highlight of the new season. It is a straight-six V6 model with the capability to deliver 395 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque. The engine is going to be available with the HST trim level.

2020 Infiniti QX80

Japanese models are not competing in high-luxurious levels. Still, their models are the most popular in the market. The new 2020 Infiniti QX80 will use more features from the new Monograph concept. Still, the future SUV will have to go through serious upgrades and the new generation will be heavily based on the new architecture. Updates on the 2020 QX80 are cool, but enthusiasts are already looking for the new generation.

2021 Toyota Land Cruiser concept

2020 Toyota Land Cruiser

The same story is with the 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser. The SUV is more than 10 years old. Frequent updates are not making the old platform new. Still, the only Toyota’s prestigious vehicle is managing to survive on the tough market. Not for too long, since the new Land Cruiser 300 Series is on the way. You might want to skip the model for the 2020 season.

New Generation of 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser for 60th Anniversary

2020 Lexus LX

The biggest changes for the upcoming season we expect on the LX. It is closely related to the Land Cruiser, and the latest news is unveiling something interesting. The company filed for registration of the new nameplate. The LX600 is waiting for a green light. This probably means the new generation for the 2020 Lexus LX, which is somehow connected to the Land Cruiser 300 Series. Follow us for further updates about this case.

2020 Cadillac Escalade

The 2020 Cadillac Escalade will be the last model of the current generation. The new SUV is arriving for 2021 with significant upgrades (restyling, IRS, possible hybrid engine). The 2020 Escalade is mostly unchanged. A powerful V8 engine produces 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. We expect news about a diesel setup. However, it is unlikely to happen, according to the latest rumors.

2020 Lincoln Navigator

The 2020 Lincoln Navigator doesn’t require big changes. However, the company is preparing changes for the Black Label. Yacht Club, Destination, and Chalet are themes that made the current version so special. The new SUV is introducing the new themes for top trim levels. Pristine White, Ceramic Pearl and Infinite Black are combinations you will find if you are willing to spend just under $100k for a luxury SUV.
