The 2020 Audi Q9 is almost out. We already wrote about the concept and now the latest rumors are reporting about the release date. During next year the vehicle is going to debut. Well, that will be the concept. The production starts in a year or two.

The full-size premium SUV is going to be the new largest vehicle. It didn’t take too long for the German carmaker to replace the Q8 at that place. Whatsoever, fans will have to be patient about the new vehicle, since Audi has other plans as well. There are performance versions and hybrid models on the way, and the same treatment expects the Q9 SUV.

2020 Audi Q9 release date

Possible Drivetrains, Hybrid

Under the bonnet of the 2020 Audi Q9 will be a large displacement. Most premium SUVs of its size are using V8 engines. A turbocharged V6 is the best the Audi can offer at the moment. Base models will get the setup with 350 hp and 370 lb-ft. We believe the company will tune it to create at least 450 horsepower for upper trim levels. On the other hand, the new configuration will require a twin-turbo system and it is going to cost more.

Electric SUV, Performance Model, Diesel Engine

There are also other possibilities for the new 2020 Audi Q9. First of all, the large SUV will be available with a diesel engine in Europe, for sure. Again, Audi will deploy the largest unit for this purpose. Don’t worry, the Q9 is not going to lack any power or torque.

Furthermore, the new E-Tron concept brings more options for the big rig. In the future, more and more vehicles will rely on electric power. This combination is even more likely than the diesel powertrain. Greener source of power and a better fuel economy are certain advantages. On the other hand, hybrid or PHEV systems will create less power.

If you are looking for the performance-oriented SUV, the RS version of the large vehicle will come after 2022. We are still waiting for the similar versions of the Q8.

What Will 2020 Audi Q9 Look Like?

Again, the 2020 Audi Q9 is still a topic of speculations. No concept or spy photo is available. However, sources are pretty confident the full-size model is coming in the next couple of years. The SUV market is growing and Audi’s archrivals, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, are already on the full-size market.

The design of the Q9 will be very similar to its smaller sibling. The Q8 is a fresh model, launched in 2019. The MLB platform is certain, so we can expect the same configurations. It offers versatility and durability. Also, the new architecture is capable to take an electric drivetrain.

When Will 2020 Audi Q9 Come Out?

This is the biggest mystery of all. The release date is still unknown. We believe the first concept will appear as the 2020 Audi Q9. However, the production won’t start so soon. The price is more predictable, though. The full-size luxury SUVs cost from $70,000. Packed with more features and more powerful engines, these vehicles reach a six-digit price.
